No sure where to put this. However, am I the only one who is having trouble helping id plants from the tiny photographs which seem to be being used these days?
Surely with modern camera technology people can get a decent size image?
Even if Photobucket no longer is of any use, there are other sites which allow third party linking which link to a decent sized image.

The best way is to upload the file directly to GC, rather than link through a host.

I know that and you know that, but if the original photo is small it would make no difference where the image is shown from.

But are the photos taken in a small format or just uploaded the wrong way?

My camera takes the photos the same size no matter how I set the resolution. :noidea: It's just the definition that changes.

I don't know, but when the image is so small I cannot help with the query. My eyesight is not as good as Silver Surfer's seems to be and I just cannot see the details of the plants to be able to answer the question, as much as I would like to.

@Palustris I, also, can't see them very well when they're small - but I also have trouble identifying them when they're bigger :snorky:

Silver Surfer is in a class of her own! :love30:

I just dont think people realise that we need a good overall photo, plus one or two, up close shots of fruit flowers and leaves, you can never have too much info for ID ing a plant.

I often think it's down to a quick snap with a phone rather than a proper camera.

IMG_0861.JPG I think the problem here is the fact that when people upload the photos on the forum they don't press the button that says Full Image and they just press the button that says Thumbnail and that is why the photos come out so small:scratch:

Not sure though what happens if they upload from a phone etc as I download mine from my camera onto my iPad or else I take the photo with my iPad and then just upload onto whatever thread I want the photo to appear:snorky:

If it's a thumbnail we can usually click on it and it will come up full size.

Is that not only the case when it is an attachment that hasn't been inserted as either?

Best way to find out is to try it I suppose:

                    This one as a thumbnail:
                    IMAG0120.jpg
                    This one as full size:
                    IMAG0119.jpg

And one left as an attachment

Well, you are right @shiney - if you click the thumbnail image, it does open full size - I must admit I didn't know that :love30:

Oh come on now FC, even I knew that;)

I sometimes just use thumbnails instead of full images as it is then up to the viewer if they want to see all the pics big.
Nothing worse than going through loads of irrelevant pictures if that is not your interest.:)

@pete I suppose it depends how lazy I am and how much time I have. I'm more inclined to pass over the posts with thumbnails, particularly when I'm short of time, as I have to click into it and click out of it to read the post. Also, although it may not be true, it appears to be smaller than if posted in full.

If I click on the thumbnail it takes me to the Album from whence it came, but there is does not change size.
