False alarm, just counted 32 flowers on a branching truss.

The top leaf growth of those stabilised open pollinated N'th generation Big Zacs can be so vigorous that it's possible to mistake a leaf for the growing point. I'm pinching out the tops when they get to 4'/1.2m high and restricting to only 1 or 2 tomatoes per plant. Never known plants so vigorous and with so many megablooms, no wonder they're producing the world and lots of national records for heaviest toms.

Here's what the seed came from

My Phill's Fantastic plants, a variety I've grown for several years, are doing better than ever this year and might produce a new pb for that variety, but I'm also growing a couple of other Biz Zac strains that might produce good results, if not at least I'll get some seeds from them for other years.

Grrr, the blackbirds helped themselves to my first truss of ripening black Russians. I've rescued the one they left (the smallest!) and also a tempting looking black trifele that's a couple of days off ripe. Hopefully with the current rain the birds will hop off and go nick my worms instead. :gaah:

Doesn't look like blight Linz, more likely a nutrient deficiency. Blight is much larger spots and will devastate your crop over night practically. Look underneath for a white fungus growth (it looks fuzzy) and will be in the same area where the blotches are on the upper surface, if present that is the best indicator of blight.

Today I picked my first tomatoes of the season. They are about a week overdue but they look like they are worth waiting for. The variety is Tropic, which I have been growing for several years.
