Come to think of it, it's terrible that we are in such a dire need of rain whilst @zenj 's suffering from having too much. @Mark56 What an excuse to indulge yourself! No need to find excuse as i know you're a sensible buyer ..

I went to the shop and right on the brick paving saw 3 snails blatantly show their faces. I dispatched them to meet their maker. Funny enough, I saw a whole petunia plant with a flower growing out of the gap in between my brick paving. AND it has a beautiful flower on, in this terrible heat and dry weather. Amazing..

@Logan I have rain too, and right on cue at 5pm as in the BBC weather chart, but it is a very weak steady stream. I let the rain water already collected in the butts into various containers as I expect a deluge tonight. Can't bear the idea of their overflowing onto the lawn again. It's really is a life-line for my flowers. I chopped off the biggest of my helleborus leaves and dug a tiny ditch- or moat-like dip along my helleborus and dahlias. I learned it from @Verdun - he said he grew the dahlias amongst the helleborus and I am now a dirty copycat!

Hope the cosmos is ok, the slugs and snails will be out. Got to take Barley for his yearly booster. Got to get him in the car.

We finally got the rain! Heavy downpour mid afternoon - just when Mrs Shiney had a group turn up for afternoon tea and a tour of the garden  They (flower arranging U3A group that she is teaching) had tea under cover (it was still quite warm out) and had their tour after the rain. One of the people runs a gardening club and has asked if she can bring the club. :blue thumb:

Visitors always buy plants and all the proceeds go to charity. :dbgrtmb: A lot of them wanted Jerusalem Sage but we sold all the potted ones on Open Day. So she dug a load up for them - £1 per plant, unpotted.

@shiney I must come with a shopping trolley ..Want to insert a gif, but they are totally hyper!

@Logan Thank you so much for the hard work. I think coffee grinds might be more useful.

We didn't have rain, not until 5pm and even then it was a very meek affair. This morning, the offensive butt has been leaking again. Went around the whole garden and took whatever that could hold water and after 5 trips, got quite a few tubs around and drained the offensive plastic .. Very annoyed. It was weeing like a little boy, non-stop and on the side, weeping drip, drip, drip.. Little did he know that he was weeping my tears!

Very happy, 6 big butts (at least 220L full to the beam) and 10 various sorts of containers and 2 bin-butts.. Now, I can relax...

Went around inspecting garden after several hours of heavy rain yesterday. Even the tall delphiniums have remained unscathed and upright. First impressions are that the garden has lapped it all up. Now, for th return to dry sunny weather :)
Good morning everyone..got some plants coming today....yippee! :rasp:they will be potted on for planting in the autumn to suit planting plans
Glad you can relax now alp with your topped up water containers :)

Potting on the chilli plants is the main thing this week. I need to buy another 4 x 70 litre compost from Wickes when I go into town tomorrow. Got an order yesterday evening for nine Naga plants. They're not quite ready for sale yet but they'll take a couple of Shiney Hybrids in the meantime.

Thank you, @Verdun Wish I lived in Cornwall, even tall dephiniums unscathed. My bamboo toppled flat on the floor.

Why don't you use :rasp: as your avatar, @Verdun ? Save you inserting it every time! I know I am cheeky .. But you use it every single time, like an imp! :pathd:
