Picked the first of the Beefmaster today. At around 12oz (340g) it's well short of my best ever, which was around 25ozs (716g), but it's a good start. :)

I'm calling it my ¾pounder. :old:

It looks like a good year for Toms this year, "M", as all the 5 varieties have set well and are cropping nicely.:hapydancsmil:

Has anyone ever grown Red Alert before, I planted a couple of plants out at the back end of May, they looked pretty normal.
Bot are now stunted, they formed about two trusses and then stopped growing, no shoots to carry on.
My Incas are growing normally, not very tall, but very leafy and going sideways as is usual.

The red alerts are ripening now though.

I've grown Red Alerts for nearly 30 years. They form small, low, straggly bushes with lots of fruits and not very many leaves, ripen early and very often every single tomato will ripen in a good year. Although yours are on the small side, they don't get much bigger. I plant them 18"/450mm apart. They grow very well if planted through Mypex which also has the benefit of keeping the toms clean.

OKay, so this pic was taken on Tuesday - it's Friday and you can no longer see the panes at the back of the greenhouse... as a rule I don't remove foliage since it is the powerhouse of the plant, but I'm worried that I won't be able to SEE any tomatoes due to this absolute jungle....

Hi everyone...my toms are currently outside and doing well as the Quadgrow is working a treat:blue thumb:

                      IMG_2397.jpg IMG_2395.jpg

Over the last day or so some have started to ripen and are looking decidedly orange, so do I leave them where they are or would they do better if I move them into my new greenhouse?

                      IMG_2379.jpg

I hadn't planned on using the greenhouse this year as the toms were meant to be staying outside, this year I was going to get everything ready, as in buy / make what I needed for next years growing season, but if they stand a better chance of ripening in the greenhouse then maybe I'll try and drag them in?

I'd let them bide where they are, still got plenty of summer left

Picked a lot of toms already and loads to come. Agree, it looks like a good summer for toms :)
I remove lower leaves.....not long done this today ..and I do so every year. I think it helps with air circulation and good healthy fruit production. By mid August I have very few leaves left but every tomato ripens without the need to artificially ripen them indoors....never taste the same then, do they?

Quite pleased with the ways things have gone, with no Blossom End Rot, or any signs of anything else, and the trusses are not bad either.
