Yesterday made some cucumber and chilli pickle, with some of my cucumbers and chillies.

You can have the recipe if you want.

@Logan Well done! I do hope to teach my son how to cook following a recipe and after that someone ELSE will cook for me:loll:.. What a sly plan I have. Need to buy a chopping board. I used to hate chopping board and sold one in a boot sale as I can't forget the horrible grime stuck in the wood grains, especially along the edges.. I would scrape the edges like mad so when I came here, I never used a chopping board - always a plate.. But having been the cookery lessons, I am warming to having a chopping board. Chopping board, wood or plastic? For or again?

@alp that's a great plan. He should learn to cook anyway. I have plastic chopping boards. 1 each for veg and fruit. Only because if i use chillies, even after washing can't get the chilli out. Got a wooden one for bread.
I've got 2 frying pans, again chillies won't come out after washing. I made some pancakes in the same pan and for the first 2 pancakes, could taist chilli.

I regularly do a lot of cooking (happily cooking for 20 or more people) and wouldn't be without my wooden chopping board. I've got a big one! (Boasting - again! :heehee:)
        P1340406.JPG

It gets scrubbed after every use - detergent and scrubbing brush.

Mrs Shiney finds the board much too heavy to use and prefers her plastic chopping boards. In professional kitchens they now use plastic and colour coded boards to guard against cross contamination. (Red - raw meat, Blue - raw fish, Yellow - cooked meats, Green - salad and fruit, Brown - veg, White - bakery and dairy.) I use the old fashioned way of prepping food in the right order (meat/fish last - or scrubbing in between).

There's no legal requirement, at the moment, for professional kitchens to use plastic colour coded boards but I wouldn't be surprised if they bring a law in.

I use a lot of chillies (we specialise in growing them) and they scrub out of the wooden chopping board. :blue thumb:

Soon we need to have another kitchen just for chopping boards, another one for washing machine, according to Kirsty Allsop ..and another one for cooking in .. Don't you just want to be born into aristocracy or simply money! The claptrap we have to endure from these people who live in a parallel universe..

@shiney Amazing thalicrums. The boys here are getting a bit "naughty"! They think they are in the pub :ccheers: early in the morning.. talking double dutch and blowing r... already ..

@Loopylupin Your message is so funny .. the critters we have to deal with in gardening.. rabbits, squirrels, mouse, birds, mosquitoes (last year, I had several itches which lasted for more than half a year. In the end, I had to scrape off some of the death skin or wart?) But HURRAH, you've won this time. One to @Loopylupin and Nil to birds and rodents.

@Upsydaisy My son laughed when he saw your emoji. I don't want to go to the dentist as he didn't even provide liquid for me to rinse my mouth and I've started to worry that the place is dirty .. Hope everything is OK with you!

This morning had a appointment at the orthopedic clinic. My knee has been signed off.:Wino:
It feels a bit stiff, but he said it won't be like the other one and i might get arthritis. But who knows,it won't stop me from doing things.:)
Tomorrow it's the phisio, so hopefully it will be the same.

Great that your doc signed you off. You must have missed walking your dog, @Logan !

@zenj Thank you for the name. I think someone offered to swap hers with my purple helleborus.. The name makes me laugh - sounds very pathological.., but what a beauty .. Must look out for them when I visit gardens to see how tall and what colours they have..
