    Deal done :)
Tropicanna: The 2 types, black and gold, are new to me.
    I only know this Durban:

Can you post a photo of yours?

Phasion and Durban are same but Trop Black is different; red flowers, whereas, others are orange. Foliage too far more complete, i.e. Shiny, black purple....will post in a couple of weeks when it should be more impressive :)

    A bit of an experiment.
    C. cleopatra seems happy enough growing with roots totally submerged.

    Sorry about the bird s**t.

Saves a lot of watering, although growth is slower initially as the pond needs to warm up I'm wondering if things will be lusher in late summer as watering is always the biggest stunting problem I find.

    Sorry about the oxymoron.

They will grow in a certain amount of water pete. Feeding as well though.
Saw some Tropicanna Black in B & Q today but clearly virus affected..........worrying that. :noidea:

The thought behind growing as a marginal plant is no watering and no feeding, the feeding is left to the fish.

I'm just making sure that the plants will actually grow with no air around the roots and totally submerged.
I should have planted them in aquatic baskets, but these two are in normal pots, so the roots are restricted.
They are pretty much a just a couple of spare offsets.

I did try a bright yellow seed grown plant a few years ago, much to Sals horror, but it did well enough.:)

Canna glauca grows well in the pool in the Lily House at Oxfords Botanic Gardens...............

I think that you're right about the water warming up. Obviously being a tropical house the water never cools down but the results are impressive. A general view of the pool (just because it's nice!)...............

I see Tesco are selling Cannas at £10 each, not a great bargain but they are strong and healthy - no sign of virus. I bought several Cleos 3 years ago from Tesco when they were reduced to £12 for two. I found these at two separate stores yesterday and today:

I started growing Canna in 2011 , when "Canna Mania!" hit gardeners corner . Just look at the canna posts for that year . I bought 6 C. Tropicanna seeds for £1.80 on Ebay. Following the careful instructions on here , I scarified the seed and planted them . Five germinated one died , but the four others went on to produce 5 foot cannas with a lovely red flower . I have given rhizome after rhizome away to friends and family . So over the six years they must be costing all of 1p each :blue thumb:

Just an up date on "stuttgart", looks pretty awful now, and just coming into flower.
I've moved it to total shade now.

I think that browning is part and parcel of Stuttgart.
Reminds me of hosta fire and ice unless grown in shade so I would be interested to hear if yours does improve in the shade Pete.
Every Stuttgart I have seen from mid summer seems to have this issue....???:noidea:

Well if it is normal then I'm wondering if it is worth growing.
A canna in shade is going to be pretty slow growing in my opinion.:frown:
