Good morning all, what a storm last night, the lightening was lighting up the whole flat. So Amber must have come out in sympathy with Penny then has she has been limping too. Must phone the vet and get her an appointment. I feel sorry for those in Cornwall flooded out.
Have a good day all stay warm and dry and above all SAFE and well, God bless. :wub2:

Woo, don't worry, I got some photos :heehee: The storm hit us a bit later than you but it was rather spectacular.

        The rain was heavy :yikes:

          Morning all.

The garden has survived the overnight storms, in fact it's positively bursting with life after that thundery rain, everything seems to have put on a growth spurt overnight. :)

Thanks for all the good wishes on our anniversary yesterday. Mrs Trunky was duly impressed with the large bouquet of flowers I arranged to have delivered to her at work. I'd ordered them a couple of weeks ago, the very next day she said to me "Don't bother getting me flowers this year, all the vases are packed away for the house move."

Sister-in-law saved the day though, I borrowed a large vase from her and hid it in my wardrobe.

Glad it's my day off today, looks like it's going to be a hot one. Have a good day everyone.

            Good day everyone
I hope Amber and Penny fare well with the vets. If only they could talk and tell us when they hurt or have problems.

Sounds like everyone got much needed free water. And it's a bonus when it happens in the night. We haven't had all that much lately but a little is better than none.

I really would like a bit more of a breeze because I have been fighting spider mites. A little air movement would certainly help.

Play safe and enjoy the day :)

Good morning all my friends and Penny says thank you for all your warm wishes, the vet said that she has a touch of arthritis in her beck leg joint and she is a little on the tubby side by 2 kilos special food and Metcalm was the treatment, money is not an issue but I do get a little angry at what vets charge, just to see the vet £40,injection £20 Medine £32 ,did ask the vet what the cost of an X-ray would be if needed later on between £450-£600 anyway that is another story for another day, have a great day and please look after yourselves:smile:

ps its overcast here no lets not beat about the bush its battleship grey and drizzling with rain,:heehee:

                  Aloha everyone,

Penny, I wish you lots better :doggieshmooze:. Having to go on a diet is no fun  but it will help you a lot. :)

We had a lot more rain during the night and the battleship is over us as well. :heehee:

I was going to mow some of the lawns but unless it gets sunny the grass is too wet - and if it gets sunny it will be too hot to mow :phew:

Anyway, I have meetings today and have a lot of reading of papers to get through. One of the meetings is at the town hall at high noon, so I'll have a late lunch. Then I'll either have to have an early dinner this evening, as I have another meeting at 8 p.m., or a late dinner after the meeting. Decisions, decisions! :snorky:

Runner beans are cropping very well now. @Zigs, Bridgwater beans have got going and some are 3" long already and plenty of pretty flowers. Mrs Shiney planted a variety of French style beans in one of the ShineyFrames but I don't know which is which  as the indelible ink on the labels has become delible and yesterday's monsoon proved the manufacturer's claim was wrong!

I can recognise some:- Bridgwater has pink flowers, Blue Lake has white flowers, Yellow French has yellow flowers. :ideaIPB:

After the monsoon, some courgettes are masquerading as marrows :rolleyespink:

Keep well and have a great day

                  Aloha!

@wiseowl I too can never figure out how the vets have gotten away with charging so much. A tooth xray for humans only costs $50 - how can it cost so much more for canines!

It is pleasant here at the moment but only because the temperatures haven't risen up enough to make the high humidity uncomfortable.

I will be starting to empty out the storage area where I had stashed some of my friends belongings. He was a train/model train enthusiast and there are hundreds of books on these subjects. I don't want to continue paying for the storage area and that is why I am pushing myself to empty it. My cellar is looking like a hobbyist store for model railroad people because there are already dozens of model train engines and cars down there.

Have a good day and play safe :)

Howling wind all night, brought plenty of rain with it too.

Had a good evening down the bay with Willow and friends :Wino: Thems going back soon though

Won't get much done in the garden till this weather passes.

                            Aloha everyone,

Meetings went OK. Lunchtime one finished at 3 p.m. so had lunch after that. Came home and did some mowing, picked 5lb of beans, found a rabbit, went off to my 8 p.m. meeting, just a mile up the road in the village, so walked there (forgetting that I would then have to walk home before I could cook my dinner ). Lamb chops, spuds and loads of runner beans.

Chiropodist this morning, followed by more mowing. :phew:

Keep well and have a great day

                              Goooooood morning fellow WW'ers :spinning:

Not everyone  Thunder, yes; lightening, yes; rain :nonofinger:

Sorry to hear Amber and Penny are limping: speedy healing vibes for them both :doggieshmooze: :doggieshmooze:

I think we are so spoiled by a free (human) health service that when it comes to vets bills, we have nothing to compare it to. It can come as a bit of a surprise and that's for sure! :grphg:

:doggieshmooze: Have you tried X-raying a dog? :heehee:

When you weigh it up, Lori, a tooth X-ray for a human is a while-you-wait process, no sedation required, taking around 1 minute (including setting up) leaving only the dentist to then press a button with a compliant human who is then able to walk straight out of the chair afterwards.

In contrast, most canine cases will need a general anaesthetic plus physical manipulation to get them into the correct position for the X-ray (depending on the area needing analysis). This could involve between 2 and 4 people (vet + nurses) depending on the size of the canine, plus close monitoring before, during and after the anaesthetic and frequent watch until fully alert once more and ready for being reunited with their owner. The analysis would be another element of the cost plus all sundry items used throughout the course of the day/treatment/visit. Let's not forget VAT @20% either! Finally, all associated elements within the classification of "overheads" generally.
So, a variety of different elements in comparison to a human dental X-ray which means it isn't a like for like comparison.

In woo's case, it wouldn't be a dental X-ray but a hip/leg X-ray. Penny is a lot smaller than my Ozzy (so again, we're not comparing like with like precisely) and Ozzy's day at the vet's for an X-ray of his spine/hindquarters/rear leg joints came to a total of £1174 *before* VAT. (I won't bore you with how much his MRI cost  :heehee: ).

Fortunately, in Ozzy's case, I was able to claim the bulk of it back via pet insurance (minus the excess). However, bringing it back to canine dental, no insurance policy that I know of will cover dental treatment in pets as dental issues aren't classed under "accident, illness or injury" and deemed preventable with regular dental hygiene :)

Need to brave the motorways today as #2 son has a job assessment which I need to drive him to this afternoon.

Miles of smiles and positive vibes for all

                                Good day everyone
@"M" :yikes: I am glad that my dog owning years are far behind me. Too much expense and heart ache.

We are expecting a hot 94f day today however it certainly won't be affecting me much because I shall be handling wet laundry and then off in the car to go to the U.S. for a few minutes.

I brought in the bags of books from the van this morning so that each trip down the stairs to change loads of laundry, I shall not go empty handed. The bags each weigh around 35-40 lbs and there are 15 of them left to shift. I'll be glad when that is done. :phew:Once outdoor gardening season is done, I shall be sorting them into their various categories and ready for sale. They are all books about trains or model trains from every nation. The collection includes a great deal of them about British trains. :)

Have a good day and play safe :)
