Many thanks M, I cant really do anything with the gaps its hit and miss fencing all way round my garden, I'm hoping the frogs will deal with any slugs snails in the area,

I'm still pondering with the idea of giving a hedgehog in need a home, probably next year now when all landscaping is complete.

Baby is now called River ( unisex name as I think she's a girl but it can be difficult to say for sure in very young hoglets ).

Taken this evening after a feed. She fell asleep before I could clean her up. I am putting her food on my finger or a spoon, so she laps it as she is ready to wean. Makes a bit of a mess, probably more food on her than in her :snorky: but she's got the idea. And what's even more adorable than a sleeping baby hedgehog is a dreaming baby hedgehog, but couldn't upload video( said I don't have planned extension permission :rolleyespink: no idea what that is ).

We've just been doing the usual, non-stop, garden maintenance.

Mowing (averaging an hour a day at the moment :phew:), weeding (many hours a day :hate-shocked:), harvesting (much more enjoyable use of time :blue thumb:), 30 minutes a day winding in the beans, tying up plants that have flopped due to heavy rain, Mrs Shiney has just filled two wheelie bins just with the cuttings from cutting back Alchemilla mollis, an hour a day watering plants that are under cover, filling up the bird feeders every other day, repotting lots of plants...

She is indeed adorable and absolutely hilarious when she's getting stuck into her food:snorky:. I think we got all the maggots. She's been here a week so inclined to think if there were any more they would have shown themselves by now. She's had anti biotics and ear drops too. Hopefully she's on the mend now.

Today, so far, I have cleaned the legs and base of our main patio table, scrubbed the old patio table (that we use when having "party" BBQs, for food prep, etc), and scrubbed the patio. I then cleaned it all off with the hose on jet (shhh! Don't tell the authorities, I think we still have a hosepipe ban). I also topped up the water feature, as it was a good 4" below the top.

I then checked the veg - 5 courgettes, one of which was approaching a parrot in size - no, autocorrect, a marrow!! A generous handful of mangetout, some French beans, including the first of the purple beans - so much easier to find than the green ones.

And the big news - I picked my first RUNNER BEAN!!

Time for a break, and a cookie, before the daily deadheading starts...

Not actually gardening, but gardening/foraging related, finally got around to clearing out a badly frosted up freezer in our shed (got 4 in there and one in kitchen) and by shuffling things around cleared enough room for 54 lbs of Blackberries which delays the need for immediate processing of the approx 9lbs a day we're picking.

A very warm, sunny afternoon following heavy showers earlier meant I could cut the grass. Lawns were totally dry....amazing transformation :). It was so hot I was sweating like......er, perspiring quite heavily  :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

After admiring the 2nd wave of apple blossom :yikes: on our young Hereford Russet (we have just taken the 3 apples off, as the rooks were damaging the young tree as they tried to get the fruit), just finished making a savoury pie out of unknown frozen meat. I know, not in the garden, you think, but it turned out to be pork, so some of our courgettes went in...

An acer was planted earlier today, a lavender seedling moved, and everything has been well watered by some very welcome rain. We nearly lost all of our 2 year old fruit trees, incl. the Russet, following the drought from March-June, with little rain since.
We have some :bolt:forecast for tonight!:hapfeet:
