Best clematis for prolonged flowering

No King, Verdun, just a humble servant of the Clematis and my garden.


To be honest, all my Clematis are my favourites as they all, with the warming of the climate. tend to flower longer into the Autumn and even the Winter. My Spring Flowering Clematis, such as C. alpina, Pamela Jackman, Frances Rivis, Ruby, Constance will often flower again during the early Winter. The Evergreen varieties of Armandii have now, for the last two or three years flowered in Spring and then again in Autumn, carrying onto into the Winter. I admit the more showy Clematis like Sieboldii, Diamantina, Taiga, Avant Garde, Beauty of Worcester, Amber, are the one's that seem to be the ones my friends like . I also like to mix the different shapes of Clematis flowers as that tends to catch the eye
Perhaps I do get a real bonus from the Armandii variety, apart from the repeat flowering, which is the heavy sweet scent from them in the late Winter and early Spring which will stop me in my tracks feet away from my Acer Brilliantissimum, which is completely interlaced with them, and bring a grin to my face.
Favourites,? I wouldn't be that unkind to my "Clemmies" to single any out as my favourite............they all are

 

Landsowne Gem


I think it all comes down to personal taste with choosing Clematis. I have several Clematis of similar colour to Landsowne Gem, so it's a pretty Clematis but I would probably add other Clematis varieties into the garden.
