        First picking of runners this morning. The previous 2 years my locations earmarked for runners got waterlogged and didn't dry out towards the end of June, so last autumn I covered up a patch, removing the polythene in late May and rotorvated to a fine tilth, then overnight there was torrential rain that turned it into 6" deep mud.

          Had a good look at my red and black currant bushes today as to why I have no berries, lots of growth but not a berry on either.
          They have been covered with berries for the last 2 years.

          Not a sign of any starting at all what's gone wrong, the smaller one we did move last year to make way for building work.

                Tend to agree with Zigs....both bushes look "over" pruned Jimcub.
                Even so I would have expected one or two though ........no birds around? Blackbirds? Squirrels?:noidea:

                  Blah-stard birds have pulled out all my recently sown peas.. not a happy bunny :angry1: Netted the first 3 lots.. lesson learned: must net all blinking peas :hmmm2: Didn't touch my leeks, though!

                          Ah Zigs! If it any consolation I just ripped my melons off their "supports" and re done them, they look awful.

                                No never pruned we had so much building work and it's not finished yet, a lot of jobs in the garden never got done.
                                Old bones don't help as well.

                                I will prune this autumn and wait till next year.
