Ha ha, almost! He actually did some with scissors!!! He used to be the head greenkeeper at Mentmore golfclub before it closed down and is a bit ocd. So impressed with the weeding-every scrap of weed out and neatly dug over-never been able to get it to look that good!

I'll be working on the front garden tomorrow and planting the new bits in the back. And a quick trip to the garden centre again

Prob lift my onions to dry them off.....smaller this year.....and get deadheading and grass done before wet day tomorrow
Yes went to the beach earlier ....lovely but signs that days are drawing in just a little

Harvesting sweet peas this morning - the scent is wonderful

 

Onions lifted and drying in the gh...smaller than usual but healthy and sound.
Planted out some of the wallflowers from trays, picked beans, tomatoes, carrots and spring onions
I have some huge lilies and one (stray??) by the path is sending out a powerful scent. The flower size covers two palms and I dont remember planting it there
Despite the regular warnings of rain it is sunny and dry ....washing dried and hoping to cut grass soon (twice a week regime if I can)

 

Making a list of things I want to change when the time is right i.e. moving plants and eliminating failures. I'm taking pictures of things that are working well and those that aren't. Gardening is a continual learning curve.

Things I've learned this summer.

1. I have too many pots - next year I'll go for quality over quantity

2. There's too much shade in my garden and I need to lighten it up. Lots of heavy pruning coming up in the autumn

3. I must label better- it's so infuriating when I have to go through seed packets to compare pictures.

4. Look after my roses better

5. Stake earlier and don't underestimate how tall plants will grow.

6. I must organise my cut flower garden better and mark out rows.

7. Don't be too hasty planting seeds - they will romp away when the earth warms up.

This is just the start of my list.

 

Thanks @shiney Thought I was feeling more relaxed today after doing a bit of planting and thhen came in for a cup of tea and felt a bit migrainy weird...it can bog off! Had my tablet and things seem "ok" for now....

...been a bit of an odd week so this is a real test for the new migraine medications.

I'm absolutely shattered and need to drive to Lincoln later to take dogs to my mums and get hair cut in the morning. Was up all night as one of my dogs was feeling sick all night and kept wanting to go outside and eat grass-poor girl :(

 

Yesterday we I mean Mr Kandy made a start on chopping down the cherry tree out at the front of the house because it is another tree too close to the foundations and some of the roots have marched towards our neighbours house The white flowers in the spring which the bees love only last for a couple of weeks and then they all drop off plus this tree like the Serrula sends out suckers all over the place so it had to go.I don't know how he is going to get the stump out eventually so might have to resort to either a stump grinder or drill holes in it and then put poison? In it to kill it. Took the bags of chopped up foliage and branches over to the Lottie to join the apple and holly prunings.Today we have been for a nice walk and this afternoon while Mr Kandy gave our beech hedge its annual prune I put out two lines of washing and mowed the lawns.My feet are killing me now so am resting them with my feet up after a nice hot shower (PS,at 66 he still has a fine set of legs to be proud of)
