WHAT JOBS ARE WE DOING IN THE GARDEN TODAY - 2017

Sounds like a plan . When can you start???

 

Morning everyone
Back from a walk to the beach with my nephew's dog Basil. A Jack Russel with energy to burn. Rabbits, foxes, galore on the towans and the smell of the sea .....think he enjoyed himself.
Beautiful sunny morning....hardly a soul out there. Peaceful and warm . Could be hot later
Not sure I will get much gardening done today.....beans to pick (a daily task now) but may take Monty's advice and sit and admire/criticise the garden a little too.

Started tidying up gravelled bit of back garden and dead heading yesterday. Got about halfway through and Dave ( vet ), rang to ask my advice on a baby hedgehog. Sad story. Mum had a nest and two babies in someone's garden ( guy has been putting out food ). Mum was then found collapsed during the day. Guy grabbed mum and one of the babies and took to vet. When Dave unrolled mum she was found to have part of a leg missing and a badly infected rectal prolapse, so there was nothing he could do and he put her to sleep. Fortunately the baby is 3-4 weeks, so weaning and able to eat soft foods. Dave dropped her off in the afternoon. Currently installed in bedroom with the other two. May have the other baby too if it can be found.

 

Sad story about mother hedgehog LM. Hope the other baby can be found. Wonderful little creatures

 

Aww poor hoggy It must have been in such pain bless it. Pleased it was taken to the vet. You are good taking them in @luciusmaximus

 

@Zigs is good at setting fire to things too!

 

I don't have a Bulldozer but i do have a JCB 3cx and lots of matches, it will take me about one week to drive to Anglesey on the motorway and 2 weeks on the A roads

Jiffy, JCB's are not aloud on the motorway

I met Carol Klein at Gardener's World Live and I agree Snorky85 that she is a lovely lady who definitely knows her stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing you on the box - your garden looks superb in the pictures.

It's about time GW had a female lead presenter - Carol went for it before Monty got the gig but she was unsuccessful. They have diversified the presenters recently which is a good thing but they still shy away from the top job going to a female.

I think Frances Tophill would make a good lead presenter - she's enthusiastic, knowledgable and has a smiley presence.

 

Blimey! Fabulous crop of tasty looking beans there Shiney. What can I say about those plums except
I empathise with the difficulty of picking plums v wasps. Until Silver Leaf took its toll I grew Victoria Plum as a fan on a wall and one year was late in picking the crop. A war zone that I retreated from as the wasps refused me access to any of them. The solution for me was to pick them before they got too ripe . Ha ha, thus beating the pesky wasps :rasp:

 

Heck @wiseowl that looks like thirsty work! What are you planning to do with this border?

What do the wasps like about the plum tree? Surely its more than just the plums. Unfortunately this year I've got about 3 plums and still masses of wasps.
