Around 80% of the population is deficient in Magnesium, because our soil is so depleted nowadays and as Magnesium is involved in over 700 functions in the body, many people suffering health problems (Including cancer, diabetes, obesity, alzheimers, osteoporosis, depression, fatigue, heart disease, stokes etc., etc., etc.) could benefit from supplementing Magnesium.

I make my own Magnesium 'oil', which is a transdermal form and wouldn't be without it now!!

The issue I have with all these studies is that ill health is virtually guaranteed where there is a deficiency in something or other.

Personally, I am a fan of cod liver oil supplements - whether they have any scientifically proven health benefit - is irrelevant to me - I think that they help me - and in the end that's all that really matters.

For me, the biggest killer is stress - usually caused by peoples obsession with accumulating wealth - which at the last moment before they croak it - they suddenly realise how unimportant it really is.

Time is the most precious commodity - it is finite and you can't buy any more of it :spinning:

I certainly agree with that

Accumulating wealth doesn't give me any stress. It's an enjoyable pastime - and even more enjoyable spending it :loll:

Agreed :dbgrtmb: But I'm aiming at reaching at least my first millennium :heehee:

I take 1000mg B12 daily and 1000mg K2 MK7 a couple of times a week I get more than my share of sunshine (32c at the mo but I am in the cool) and live with thousands of orange trees around my house. I have Omega3 capsules but they are huge/difficult to swallow/make me repeat fishiness! :hate-shocked::redface::frown: Occasionally I drink a multi vitamin fizzy. I weigh 128lbs, cope with any stresses life throws at me .... and enjoy an R&C to relax ... like now. :Wino:

My brother in law who is a Type2 Diabetic has to have vitamin B12 injections every twelve weeks (stomach injection) due to the Metformin he is usually on for his diabetes having depleted the B12 in his body.I looked up the condition on the Internet and a poor diet can also cause the problem:sad:

I take a 1,000mg Codliver Oil capsule once a day and have found that if I take it at breakfast time with my mug of tea and the tea is a bit too hot then the capsule melts too quickly and I get the fish repeating on me for a long time afterwards:yikes:

As I am on medication for Diabetes the blood tests I have done every six months are checked for vitaminB12 deficiency and my levels are all fine so I wouldn't need to take any Magnesium supplements. My VitaminD levels are being monitored as I had a deficiency and they reckon that lots of people living in the Northern Hemisphere suffer with the problem with those living further North in the U.K. suffering with it more:biggrin:

Unless you had a RBC (Red blood cell) test, then the test you had for your magnesium won't be accurate and you could well be deficient.

Please read below, I'm not saying you are dangerously low or anything, but just that the serum test for mag isn't the most accurate.

'A respected medical study reported that 77% of diabetics were deficient in magnesium.'

Here is a fact that everyone MUST remember.

Do not accept that your magnesium levels are normal if your doctor has ordered the inferior "serum" magnesium test.

                  Here is the kicker!

If your serum magnesium levels are shown to be high your doctor may assume everything is fine and lead you to believe there is nothing to worry about.

This is 100% incorrect and could be deadly!

                  Why you may ask?

Because as the magnesium inside the heart cell goes down, the body tries to compensate. So the serum magnesium actually goes up!

[IMG]The serum magnesium can actually be high or even too high, when at that same time your RBC magnesium (inside the heart cells) is so low you could have an instantaneous fatal heart attack.[IMG]

                  --
This is an extremely important fact for you to know: the serum magnesium (called simply "magnesium" when you see your lab test) can actually be high or even too high, when at that same time your RBC magnesium (inside the heart cells) is so low you could have an instantaneous fatal heart attack.'

Magnesium: The Fact That Can Kill You

'A Magnesium RBC test can provide an earlier indicator of Magnesium deficiency than a standard Magnesium blood test. When levels are low, the body will pull Magnesium from the cells to keep blood levels normal. In this case a Magnesium blood test may show normal levels while a Magnesium RBC test will give a more accurate result.'

What interests me is why the magnesium level in the cardiac cells is not being maintained, even when the serum level is high and how does either ingesting magnesium as a supplement, or spraying it onto the skin as a solution cause the cardiac cell magnesium level to rise. To my mind if the level of magnesium in the cardiac cells cannot be maintained this is a problem of magnesium transport; rather than magnesium deficiency in the diet. The body being pretty good at keeping ions in right place at the right concentrations.
