Loki...your question was a fair one and others will learn too from the answers given :). Its a question many would want to ask themselves so well done :)
I dont think anyone was trying to take "the mickey" and would be unhappy you are upset.
As you said, this is a friendly forum and we all like one another :)
    Sleep well loki :)

:cmonhug: I'm saddened you are feeling upset :grphg: I know you have had a rough ride which had kept you away from the forums, but I'm so happy you are here once again.

I don't think anyone was trying to take the mickey out of anyone (truly!) ... but, I can see how a misunderstanding has taken place; it is all in the "editing" of a quote and that can lead to confusion, misunderstanding and an "out of context" interpretation.

I'm sorry you have felt affronted by the way a newly acquired trick of quoting, with editing, has come across; but, you are quite right that GC is a "friendly" place to be. All members try to keep it that way.
I genuinely believe there is a misunderstanding here. Nothing nasty; nothing intended to offend; just a plain old misunderstanding. That is the trouble with the written word ... we have no body language to gauge a comment on; no nuance, no facial expression, or tone, on which to base a comment. Smilies *can* help get a point across, but, it would appear (to me) that in this instance, it has only added to the confusion of purpose.
We sit, often alone, in front of our computer screens, laughing, joking, helping, advising ... sometimes (and I'm guilty of it: hands up!) we read something and it may, just slightly, read differently to how it was actually intended. Nonetheless, offense is caused (albeit, unintended) and we may react to it. Most of us have done it - taken offense where none was intended - but we come back wiser (and stronger  ) from it :grphg:

Credit to you: you saw a member in need, you gave your offer of assistance, you gave your knowledge of the intricacies of how things are done. You were a genuine GC "friendly" member

KFF, took your sage advice, practised, edited a quote (no doubt feeling free to banter!) and a misunderstanding took place.
Put it all behind you (both of you) and tomorrow will be a brighter, wiser, day ... :grphg:

Now, if there should be glass of red wine in the offing, or even gin (I'm not fussy), then that would round off a long, weary, demanding day in my book. Either way: Chin, Chin!

@Loki I honestly don't think any offense was intended and I never even noticed anything amiss. I assumed that KFF was celebrating the fact that he had finally cracked the problem - with your help. :)

Here's a big hug for both of you :grphg:

Begonia Waterfall , trailing . This is grown from one corm about two years old . It is in a shady position only getting the sun until mid morning in summer. Flowers from June until November. A great zero maintenance plant for a shady position :blue thumb: DSCN1768_cr.jpg

                  Of course M.......have a great day :)
Harry, fantastic show there :). I do not like or grow the large begonias but I do grow these. As you said, they flower for so long and need no attention. I have red, orange, pink, yellow and white too (in the Crackling Fire variety)

Have a great day yourself V

@HarryS Gorgeous! I have a begonia similar to that one - bought for a fiver as part of a container display. Came back this year looking stunning as before. Slightly different situation to yours - it is in a place where it gets no direct sun at all. The other day, I finally took it out of the pot it came in and planted it in a window box with other shade lovers. I'll keep my fingers crossed it will come back again next year for a repeat performance

Just curious though :help: because they are grown from a corm ... can cuttings be taken from them? If so, how? :dunno:

They are all varieties of B. Boliviensis propagated from cuttings , a skill I have not mastered ! I'll start another post on how to take cuttings from this type of Begonia - the gurus will come to our aid .

Thought i'd better take a last pic of the hedge weeds, the hedge usually gets cut before the show.
