My gardens been full of butterflies and bees for over a month now, I planted Nasturtiums in all the borders, the bees are loving the flowers and the butterfly's loving laying there eggs on the plants.

P1160580.JPG P1160582.JPG P1160590.JPG Up at the old airfield where we often walk there used to be two old dead trees especially loved by the Turtle Doves where they would sit and let us photograph them.A few weeks ago the farmer decided to bulldoze the trees to make room for some of his straw bales so the Turtle Doves cleared off to another part of the airfield. We stopped going up there as the chances of seeing these rare birds were well pretty rare so imagine our surprise to see one feeding on the concrete runway so we were able to get some photos and I got some film of it:yay::hapfeet:On the way back we were lucky enough to see the pair of them although it was difficult to get decent photos of them:sad:

Thanks @strongylodon we would have been able to get a bit closer to the single one if a dog walker hadn't let her dog run away from her so this bird took off and I saw the two birds flying together when we let the woman go past with her dogs.Luckily on the way back she was behind us and was letting the dogs run through the stubble field:biggrin:

I shall have to start taking seed back up there as these birds were feeding on spilt grain after harvesting and I am wondering if these birds haven't bred this year as there was just the two of them.

Did you hear that eight young Ospreys have been translocated down to Poole Harbour so it is hoped that once released they will eventually set up nests in your part of the country so you will be able to see more of them:yay: We keep having odd ones turn up at our local reservoir to fish but as yet no sign of them wanting to breed.:sad:Perhaps if they put up a platform they might just nest there but the fishermen won't be too happy me thinks:biggrin:

Our nearest nesting Ospreys are over at Rutland and some of the chicks have even gone over to Wales to live and breed:biggrin:

@Kandy The young Ospreys were released just over a week ago while I was away. They are still being fed for a week or so and then they are on their own and hopefully join the others passing through in the next few weeks. They won't return for two to three years so it is a long term project and no one is sure whether they will even make back from Africa.
