As far as I know the old one pound coin ceases to be legal tender on the 15th of October.

So why am I still getting so many in my change?

The old coin was considered to be one of the most counterfeited coin of all time in the UK.
Is the fact that there are still masses of them in circulation a means, by the Royal Mint, to leave the public out of pocket rather than the government.

I would have thought by now most of the old coins would have been taken out of circulation, but with only weeks to go I'm still getting palmed off with loads of them.

You've rumbled their plan Pete

I'm not accepting the old ones anymore, most of them are forged.

I also charge a shilling for plastic bags at car boot sales :paladin:

          Because you are accepting them?
Or, are the counterfeiters trying to offload all of their stash before the deadline? ;)

I don't get many old pounds now , approx 80% are new ones . I think as we approach the October deadline there may be a flood of the old ones as people sort out their odd change savings bottles.

Do you just walk away and not buy what you wanted, or do you just accept loads of 20p coins instead.
I dont think it works quite like that.

                          I would settle for 50p's over 20's ;) :heehee:

Actually, speaking of walking away and not buying what you wanted ... I've done that ... when I've felt it was warranted.
