Mrs Shiney is good with all the creatures. Today she picked up a field mouse and gave it a few strokes on the top of its head and a tickle under the chin :noidea: :heehee:

3 corn snakes. Really beautiful creatures actually, I don't think I'd want anything bigger, although I admire large snakes, it's not for me. The snakes are the easiest pets I've ever had. But if you're wanting an interactive pet , forget it:)
They each belong to my first 3 sons. One got one , then the other and so on. Really easy to care for but ..... not much fun, a bit boring really.
Number 3 ( omg how do I put this:doh:) likes to impress his mates with his.
Ok, ok, I can already see the replies :sofa:

Wow!!!!:wub2: Absolutely brilliant, love ... them? Is it two? Or more? I'm not familiar with different breeds anymore, we got the corns ages ago and since them I've not really bothered

This is more of an observation than a moan.

It's about an advert on the radio with Gaz and Leccy. They are advertising (trying to push) the use of Smart Meters and trying to get listeners to have them installed.

It talks about not knowing how much energy is being used when stir frying. Then says that you can have a Smart Meter installed and see what is actually being used, after which you can "Stir fry to your heart's content"!

Now I may be a bit slow on the uptake but how does stir frying 'to my heart's content' after having the meter installed differ from stir frying before having it installed? :old:

It's that sort of advertising that makes me actively decide against the advertiser. Not that I would have a meter installed even if they paid me! :noidea:

Correction!!! It depends on how much they would pay me - I'm easily bribed. :heehee:

I say the smart meters are a con, you don't need a smart meter to tell you

I've made about £50 doing surveys on gaz & leccy and smart meters. Every time I tell them it's childish and I wouldn't want a smart meter (not that I could, being off grid :snorky:)

... how many calories you've used with all that stir frying and we all know, upping your exercise levels and burning more calories is good for your heart! :dbgrtmb:

My god this weather really is decidedly tedious. My next door neighbour is just back from visiting relatives in Hampshire for the last 3 weeks and by the sounds of things it's not been much better down South.
Because of our less than wonderful summer I have become personally acquainted with Potato Blight!:yikes: Knowing now what it looks like I was able to spot a huge field (about 50 acres) of Potatoes equally badly affected as my small patch. The farmer was busy removing the haulms as fast as possible. I'd doubt the field was ready for harvesting as these Potatoes were planted quite late on, I remember seeing them being planted. The main "Tattie Howking" takes place around the 2nd week in October NOT the 3rd week in August:rolleyespink:. I don't know if many other parts of Scotland/UK have been badly affect with Blight, but expect they have as where I live is considered a dry part of the country. I'm expecting the price of spuds to sky rocket:frown:

I seem to remember I started a thread about smart meters somewhere on here:biggrin:

@silu such a shame about Scotland getting blight problems this year as we have always bought in the spring Scottish Certified seed potatos as they are supposed to be grown from non blight affected stock as Scotland doesn't normally have the problem:whistle:

I reckon in future we shall just have to save some of our own blight free spuds next spring and use them on the lottie instead and save ourselves some money.

Hopefully up in Scotland you won't all be dieting from a potato famine and will just have to dig your hands into your pockets and pay the higher prices :snorky:

Hopefully the Blight isn't everywhere @Kandy. I only posted here as I was having a good going moan to friends about how it has down poured then been warm and muggy for weeks. It lashed about 25 mins ago (hence why I am in and on the computer:)) in amongst cutting a huge hedge which makes life that bit harder and now it's 26 0c sun splitting the heavens and stuffy........not typical Scottish weather at all:noidea:. No doubt it will pelt again within the hour...sigh.
There is an excellent seed potato supplier close to where I live which supplies people all over the country, hopefully they will be able to find suitable supplies for next year:fingers crossed:

Agree, but, having "listened" to your description of the latest *push* ... I'm now thinking they may be very useful ... they seem to have the unintended consequence of giving me the power of stir-frying!! I've never been able to do that before ... so, if installing a smart meter means I'll now be able to stir fry *and* it will record the amount of energy I expend on doing it (to my hearts content) I say: bring it on! :lunapic 130165696578242 5::lunapic 130165696578242 5:
