    HELP.
For several weeks, on and off I've had swarms of Rose sawfly.
I've soaked everything with Bayer Multirose ( although I don't have roses) as this was advised. Now I've read that a product must contain Pyrethrum ( that product didn't)
    I don't know where they're coming from.
It's so bad that we can't sit in the garden. Any ideas anyone.

I only joined today. I introduced myself and sent a post but can't see it anywhere.
Anyway, the title is my problem. On and off all the summer they have been swarming in my garden. I've used Bayer multirose liberally all over the garden ( 4 days ago) but they're back with a vengeance to day, so bad that we can't sit in the garden.
I've read that I must use a product with Pyrethrum in it, the Multirose doesn't.
    HELP.

Any insecticide would work but neem oil is very effective. I use it for gooseberry sawfly in autumn to control breeding cycle.
Oh! Warm welcome Squirrel nuts :)

Hi @Squirrel nuts and welcome to GC :sign0016: - please accept my apologies for not getting back to you sooner following @Scrungee's and @Jack Sparrow's tags, I have been out most of the day. I see that our very own @wiseowl has sorted things for you so far, and I am sure that our members will give you all the help and support they can.

@Scrungee - many thanks for the tags and for the help you gave @Squirrel nuts, it is greatly appreciated.

@Jack Sparrow - many thanks to you also for your tags and help :)

Don't worry about not being able to find your way around the forums for now - it is all new to you, and is bound to take you some time to settle in to your new online home. All of the members here are the best people you could choose to meet, and as you have already seen they will happily help where they can.

If you ever want to draw someone's attention to a post or a thread, all you do is put an @ in front of their username; as you can see at the start of this post, your name is highlighted in blue, and that will also send you an alert to tell you I have tagged you.

Any text in blue is (generally) clickable and a link to take you somewhere else, or to do something. You can't break anything, so don't be scared to click away and explore.

      The staff team are:

@wiseowl (resident rose expert, runs our photograph competitions, and a gentleman of the highest order)

@ARMANDII (resident astronomy expert, with superb knowledge of cameras and lenses to boot)

@Marley Farley (has a wide range of garden skills, and is another who knows her way around a camera - - oh, and don't tell her I said so, but she is downright lovely too!)

@shiney (one of the most charitable [literally!] people I can think of, who has forgotten more about plants than I will ever know)

@Zigs - (I always think of the three 'F's when it comes to our Zigs - Foraging, Funghi and Falling-over from being on the lash  - an expert in the restoration of old buildings)

and me, @Fat Controller (technical support department, and generally cheekiness, at your service.

If you need help at any time, just give us a shout :)

As always @wiseowl my friend. Spot on. I truly wish others took beneficial insects into consideration.

Blimey  - any advice which states you "must" would be viewed with suspicion by me :heehee: Very dictatorial and not open to alternatives :heehee:

@wiseowl has given you his expertise on the matter and, I must say, his experience when it comes to roses is just one of the things we hold him in high esteem for.

                          Thank you for your replies.
I've done a lot of reading on this little blighter and am more confused.
I have *no* roses or trees ( where they hide in the bark.
So do I literally have to look over all the plants?
I don't know if this will work but I'm adding a pic of my garden
