@Trunky I just mentioned on another thread that there's a big difference between 'Exchange' and 'Completion'. It seems to me, from what you're saying on here, that you have already had 'Exchange' and are waiting for 'Completion'. That's OK if it's in that order as once contracts are exchanged they can't pull out without a big penalty to be paid.

It seems to me that, as it's a Friday tht you mention, you are just waiting for Completion. It's an old solicitors' trick to do that on a Friday because they then tell you that the money will be in the vendors accounts on the Monday. They unsually say that they have received the money late on Friday and it is too late to for the banks to transfer it from their 'client's account' to the vendor's account. That left the money gaining interest in their account for a few days. It used to be legal for them not to pay out any interest gained for a period of three days but I don't know if that still happens - but the habit for completion on a Friday seems to remain.

Afraid not Shiney. We, along with both our vendors and our buyers, were all promised by our respective solicitors that exchange of contracts would take place last week, originally on the Tuesday. Every day we were all given various excuses as to why exchange hadn't taken place, until by yesterday (Friday), the exchange had still not happened.

Everyone had agreed on a completion and moving date of the 22nd, removals companies are booked and everyone in the chain is ready to go.

We hope to have exchange on Monday, but I'll believe it when it happens. :dunno:

Q: How can you tell when a lawyer is lying?
        A: His lips are moving.

Q: What do you have if three lawyers are buried up to their necks in cement?
        A: Not enough cement.

Q: What's the difference between a lawyer and a vulture?
A: The lawyer gets frequent flyer miles.

Q: If you have a bad lawyer, why not get a new one?
A: Changing lawyers is like moving to a different deck chair on the Titanic.

Q: How does an attorney sleep?
A: First he lies on one side and then on the other.

Q: What’s the difference between a shame and a pity?
A: If a busload of lawyers goes over a cliff, and there are no survivors, that’s known as a pity. If there were any empty seats, that’s a shame.

        Mark Twain notes...
"It is interesting to note that criminals have multiplied of late, and lawyers have also; but I repeat myself."

Aww @Trunky I do so feel your frustration!!! I was in your position 37 months ago and it nearly drove Mr "M" to total despair! (I was the coolest of the cucumbers :heehee: but that may have been due to the fact I had the task of opening the front door, heading straight for the back door and not stopping until the monster in the garden had been tamed! :heehee: ... I did it too!)

I've been watching your journey from the get-go and I can totally empathise with this last leg. Try to stay sane!

Positive (and healing!) vibes winging their way to you in shed fulls - go give Mrs Trunky a big hug ... for we all know it is the woman of the household who does the lions share of the work  :sofa:

Finger's X'd for you for Friday 22nd :fingers crossed: Hope you are able to draw comfort from the fact it isn't a Friday 13th ;) :grphg:

I cheated I bought mine before I sold the house we lived in, also the house we bought was empty so no chain.
Not everyone is able to do this and it took me 3 months to shift all our stuff and decorate, but oh how calm we all were.
We sold 2 houses without the help of estate agents, done using word of mouth and knowing people. Saved a good few pounds. This is how it should be done no hassle of delayed dates and gazumping, less stress to add a few years back to your life.

If only I ruled this kingdom how it would change and the people who serve it.

Yay! No longer moaning, speedy response from the supplier and having a new back section.

Contracts exchanged today! We are moving on Friday.:hapydancsmil:

Thanks M, much appreciated. :dbgrtmb: You're right about Mrs Trunky doing much of the work too, she has fielded most of the phone calls and emails throughout the whole process, kept things moving along and planned all the packing and preparation down to the last detail. Organizing things is her speciality and this has been her chance to shine.
I am lost in admiration. :wub2:

I have been giving her lots of 'special' hugs lately, to help relieve the stress of it all.
Works for me anyway.
