2017 GROWING THREAD

Peak Runner Bean appears to have passed, about a week ago I was picking a 30L rucksack stuffed full every few days, now I'm struggling to find excess for the freezer, no flowers left, battered by wind, cold nights, suffering from me leaving beans on to go to seed, soon I'll be struggling to pick enough to eat. Loads in the freezers though.

Super chuffed! Could of left it a few more days but little one wanted some for school. Pretty tasty!

 

Planted some pak choi after clearing out the Tumbling Toms.

Bought my autumn planting onion sets yesterday to plant any day now.

What's these Japanese onions I've bought, do they taste like regular onions?

Worth shopping around as looking at online prices they seèm to be almost £4 for 250g, approx. £16/Kg, for example: Onion Senshyu Yellow £3.95 From Mr Fothergills Seeds but I buy mine from a local hardware/gardening/pet/etc. store (Selections in Leighton Buzzard, Beds) for only £6.40/Kg sold loose and select my own sets. Then I check out the gardening reductions in Wilko almost next door. Then we head for the farm shop with the cheapest hen food (and calor gas) around, then go to John Lewis MK for our free drinks and free cakes, then checkout a few B&Ms plus Poundstretcher on the way home.

 

Oh good. I just picked em up in wilko the other week £2 for 50, not sure of weight. I bought some from simplyseed too, not sure if they were japanese though.. delivered end of this month.

I don't have a John Lewis nearby.. I'd love some free tea and cakes!

Edit:just checked it was winter red and radar sets for 1.79 each pack.. approx 50 sets/250g (also early purple wight garlic 1.99)
