    just thinking.......and sooooo obvious too:snorky:

The best pasties? Why, here in Cornwall. The best clotted cream? Cornish. The best beaches, yep, Cornish. The cleanest air? Ditto. the freshest and tastiest fish? The finest public gardens? The least pollution? Here in Cornwall. The places film makers head to for fantastic scenery? Of course down here. The sunniest weather is in Cornwall. The mildest winters here. And where are the best restauranteers flocking to? Guess! :)

Don't get me wrong, England is nice enough ...for a brief visit :rasp::lunapic 130165696578242 5:

    Why is your place best?...
(I may be away for a day or two :snorky:)

I love the west country to visit but I couldn't live there. I agree with @Verdun that it has beautiful scenery but it doesn't pay the rent and sometimes we have to be where the work is.

There's beauty to be found everywhere and gardeners make their own little patches of heaven.

When I lived in Torquay, I was reliably told that Devonshire pasties and clotted cream were the best. And the Tamar bridge lead to Mordor
And anyway a pasty is an under developed pie , if you want real pies , Wigan is your place .:snorky:

Well, if I was to return to the UK, it would either be to Scotland or Ireland. The best of two worlds are to be found there. The finest people, and the finest scenery.

Good afternoon from the Garden of England ;):blue thumb:

                  Oh, to be in England
                  Now that April's there,
                  And whoever wakes in England
                  Sees, some morning, unaware,
That the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough
                  In England - now!

And after April, when May follows,
And the whitethroat builds, and all the swallows!
Hark, where my blossomed pear-tree in the hedge
Leans to the field and scatters on the clover
Blossoms and dewdrops - at the bent
                  spray's edge -
That's the wise thrush; he sings each song
                  twice over,
Lest you should think he never could recapture
                  The first fine careless rapture!
And though the fields look rough with hoary dew,
All will be gay when noontide wakes anew
The buttercups, the little children's dower
                  - Far brighter than this gaudy melon-flower!

Well, you are right on one count! I'm sure Scotland would win in the end..... continual rain, the mighty midge and of course, that finest of delicacies, the deep-fried Mars bar! As @silu (I think) quoted recently, 'Wha's like us? Damn few, and they're aw deid!'

Quite correct. A pastie is a Skoda (a diesel one, full of the usual VW pollutants) and a pie is like a Rolls Royce. Full of all that is best! :snorky:
