I am envious of that haul!

P.S. Do the Squirrels at Burrowhayes still pelt the roofs of caravans beneath the Chestnut trees with shells and nut debris?

We were on pitch four along the long stretch with the static vans behind us so although we saw squirrels running about all over the site the only problem,we’ll it wasn’t that much of a problem was that we had the occasional pigeon walking along our caravan roof some days.

I expect the trees you are referring to are the ones further on up the field near to where the storage vans are kept,or do you mean the vans backing onto the river?

Julian had got a nice Blenheim with lots of fruit on it plus a nice tree with lots of deep red fruit which we dropping off all over the ground:sad:

There were a few blackberries around but we didn’t want to walk across fields of Bullocks to go searching for more so we didn’t get that many this year.

Hubby found a couple of walnuts but when he opened them and bit into them they tasted bitter and he reckons they are American walnuts which don’t taste as good as the English ones:scratch:

The static vans getting pelted by the Squirrels were probably somewhere behind that VW camper in the second pic.

Somewhere along the fenceline at the top edge of the site (pic 1) there used to be a big tree stump which was great for kids to sit on twatch the ponieswhen they were finished for the day and released into the field, but it was a bit of a surprise when we were pitched there to have up to half a dozen kids round the back of our tent climbing over it, but hey, they (including our daughter when younger) have a great time there doing things like building dams, making rope swings over the river, riding ponies, hanging around the stables, and even simply climbing tree stumps.

We've collected windfalls from the farm along the road towards the A39, plus apples from Horner car park and both apples and pears from Bossington car park, and made apple wine from the juice to drink on our next visit the following Easter.

I'll be back that way again in less than 2 weeks to see the Deer rut.

Friday--of course to the office. a meeting at 10AM and then report writing etc.
Saturday--my favorite yearly thing with my friend Marcia. will get lots of garden shots. the yearly thing is this-----https://www.chestercountyhospital.org/giving/support-an-event/chester-county-day

IT is also possible that Friday evening I can get to Longwood Gardens for their fountain display. its free with the ticket for the above event. so have to keep that in mind today. not far from where I live. 20 mins or so.

We had family over yesterday and we all went for a lovely walk in the forest. Had a lovely cuppa at the café in the forest and sat outside (there's no inside :heehee:) in a clearing by the lake and had dozens of ducks wandering around us. :blue thumb:

had a grand day with my friend at Chester Cty Day. we got so tired walking about hill and valley to see gardens and homes. have some pix on my camera still to download. Sunday, just some house cleaning. laundry, etc. paced myself. Monday off to work again, office work and then to a funeral. Rained Sunday, so no outside work any way.

                    Yep, seems that way.
Two weeks ago there was another funeral I misses as I was on vacation. Last week another one, but I was unavailable to attend. Now the one today, Monday.

I have to focus on my retirement month at least. So looking forward to being "JUST" home, and making my gardens totally perfect. And cleaning out stuff.

Today was the cremation of my oldest friend, the second in four months - neither was a great age. Never been to West Suffolk before but their Crematorium grounds are really tranquil and beautiful.
Tomorrow, Echo is going over the Rainbow Bridge; it is time.

                        @"M" :grphg:

I worked this morning even though it is the Thanksgiving Holiday. I needed to get a little ahead of schedule for when I lose two 1/2 days later this week. And all should even out. I think I may putter about for the rest of the day. Maybe start up the wood oven and continue cooking soil. Did that last week and oops, my laundry came in smelling of wood fire so when I go to bed in my smoked jammies, I get the feeling of sitting at a camp fire - not unpleasant - just weird :heehee:

I am so sorry to hear about your news with Echo. I have been there myself with so many pets over the years. That final journey to the vet is the longest and the hardest but it is the most loving, kindest thing you can do for Echo. I will think of you tomorrow.
