New Members

Some new members do not introduce themselves in the 'New Members Introduction' thread and ask questions only. Above the thread it says "No questions in here please". That leads me to think the font is to small or new members are ignoring it, so may I suggest highlighting it by changing it from black to red.

 

Actually, I don't recall seeing a message coming up to steer me to the introduction thread when I signed up.....

There is no message to direct you there Lori as introduction is optional. It's not to late now if you feel the need but I think you're already well and truly part of GC.

My own personal opinion is that the first post a new member makes should be in the New Members area. Its really a matter of forum etiquette. I could even see it as being made compulsory. In that way, new members could be vetted. That is to say, the mods could check the post as being within the rules before it is shown.

Technically, if it says "no questions here, please" and someone asks one, its breaking forum rules. If a rule is broken in the first post made, then I would question both suitability as a forum member, but also whether or not they will stay.

That comment certainly did not go pasteurise, so I'm feeling quite sterilised!

 

I don't want to be forced through a tiny hole under pressure, i wouldn't look the same!!

 

This is only a request, not one of the forum rules

If the staff could keep off the hobnobs and hot chocolate for more than 5 minutes they could easily move any questions to a new thread
