Would Caryopteris × clandonensis 'Heavenly Blue' grow in the gap behind the barrel. It might even go in the space in front of the cage. The write up says light soil. My soil definitely isn't light.

Penstemon or Agastache are also in the running.

No gardening apart from wandering around and looking at it. Weather much calmer yesterday but not much enthusiasm for gardening. We went for a walk around Parys Mountain instead. Also known as The Copper Kingdom. Its a fascinating landscape and we mainly had it to ourselves.

Hoping to do a bit in the garden today.

You could perhaps try giving your kitty some digging areas of his own using trays or pots and adding some catnip to the soil/compost.:).

The first job I did in the garden yesterday was to pick up all the good windfalls that the hooligan Brian had knocked out of the trees - a couple of hundred. The useless ones (too badly damaged or too rotten or too small) will need to be collected and dumped on the compost heaps.

To give my back a bit of a rest I then went indoors, made a cuppa and sat in front of the computer to send some emails to friends to come and collect some windfalls, BYOB (bring your own bag) - as opposed to MYOB (mind your own business) :snorky:.

Then it was back outside to mow all the main lawns. They look good now :blue thumb:

Did nothing yesterday. Just couldn't get the "get up and go" going, think it's gone on holiday and not told me :)
Still got loads of cuttings to do, does anyone know if it's too late to do Dianthus ( Carnations and Pinks ) cuttings? Perhaps Mrs Shiney would know @shiney . Thanks :)

PS... @shiney , have you got a local pig farmer near you, you might be able to exchange your windfall apples for some pork?

Potted these on, they'd made good root growth :)

I've consulted the oracle and she has come out with one of her usual profound statements. "No harm in trying, all you've got to lose is your time!"

Good idea but we don't eat pork :)

We had a pig farm only half a mile away (used to do their muck spreading on the field at the back of us ) but it's now commercial storage units.

Over the years we had had a number of times when the police would knock on our door asking whether we had seen a stray pig. :heehee:

Both XC and BBC weather have got it rather spectacularly wrong. Both forecasts stated that after the :rain: I woke up to there would be unbroken :hotsun: between 10am - 2pm and then :sunny: between 4pm until sunset with Zero Rainfall. What we had was :rain: and :rain: with low cloud and lots of sea mist around the coast and decidedly chilly :oopss:. So no gardening as planned. Went up to South Stacks for lunch instead where the mist invariably became thick fog. We talked about gardening over lunch though :heehee: or I did and R listened in a vague sort of way :dunno:

What did you think? The food has improved in past year or two. And a fantastic view if the weather is good

@luciusmaximus It was years ago (10 maybe or more). A tour guide took us. I vaguely remember it being difficult to get to by coach and too small for the size of group. Next time a guide suggested it I suggested otherwise.
