            My plant is still actively growing and setting fruit, I might get a marble sized one by halloween. Size 9 for comparison :)

                  But, more importantly, where did the third pumpkin come from?

                    @Richard360

                    Superb pumpkin but those press photos are terrible. You should have done the "Hapless Atlas", "Evil Gangsta Grower" or the "Seated Ponderer" pose instead.

                    Imho, there is no time to rest, I think you should plan to grow an even bigger one just to record better photos for posterity - incentive enough if ever there needed to be any.

                      Are these extra large pumpkins any good for eating, or are they like most large veg, inedible or no flavour ?

                      They make great soup, I have in the past given large chunks away to people that I know will use it. Also given some to the local village hall and a couple of pubs too.

                      I just made a bog standard soup then froze, when defrosting I would add bits and bobs to it, such as chicken or ham, some herbs and spices etc etc

                      Diced, blanched and froze it is also handy and good for adding to winter stews and curries.

                      I've never got as far as making chutneys or even beer from it, I think @Scrungee has tried the latter.

                      Have you taped your pumpkin yet?

                      Steve...:)

                            297lbs 10ozs is a fantastic result!

                            Looking at the scales it appears to be slightly over 135Kg, so just a smidgin below 300lbs
