My salvias! They're in quite a sheltered corner but I'm still surprised by how strongly they're still growing and flowering away. Still attracting the odd bumblebee too.

Left to right: Salvia microphylla (an enormous blackcurrant sage), S. Hot Lips (red and white flowers), S uliginosa (pale blue) and dark purple Amistad at the back.

They seem to be taking over, nevertheless - can anyone can recommend a good dark blue one for me to add to my collection next summer? They are beautiful plants I think and obviously like London life.

Love your salvias @Clare G. A beautiful splash of colours to have at this time of year! I'm looking out at my back garden just now and everything is green, brown and yellow. Lovely, but a more muted palette than yours!

Thanks @Irmemac and @BeeHappy! Yes it is very nice still to have things in flower, though the leaves are coming off the trees now too.

I think that Black and Bloom salvia could be just the ticket - very striking with those black stems, as well as the dark blue flowers. I shall look out for it.

Clare, salvias here too incl elegans, love n wishes, embers wishes, and many, many more.

However, one of my favourites has just gone over and it is prob the finest blue of them all, viz., guanajuato. It is a tender salvia but a real beauty. :)

Smaller flowers but very dark blue is S. Blue note. Similar is Violin Music. Both microphylla varieties so reasonably hardy.:)

To make your choice even harder Clare, check out cacalifolia. Sky blue flowers all summer :) Plant with geum Firestorm for a cracking orange/blue scene :)

plans to move some plants later :). The removal of a large philadelphus aureus and a nearby (supposedly dwarf but not) pine is appealing to me......their removal will allow me to rejuvenate the areas with lots of exciting perennials. :yay:

Back from the beach.....quite a chilly feel, clear skies, rabbits totally ignoring me, couple of foxes, a stoat sprinting past prob in pursuit of one of those rabbits and some intrepid dog walkers to set me up for the day.
A lovely day in prospect .....

More people down here from the Grenfell flats on free holidays......every victim has been offered these breaks..........so I'm pleased they have enjoyed the good weather. :) Hopefully go some way to help their recuperation and well being:)

Hotlips, Icing Sugar and Mellen have all but finished here too. Amistad had been cut down and will be lifted and overwintered in the greenhouse.
