When you just can't bear to discard your carrot thinnings but instead transplant them into ultra fine grade loamy clay top soil...



Alien carrots is likely what you'll get.

They look weird but taste great. In fact, they are much sweeter than the ones I've grown elsewhere.


Here they are earlier in June, a single row inbetween the larger fake spring onions and the smaller real spring onions.

 

Christmas spuds are coming on

 

Should have got the garlic in last month so put some into plugs to make root growth in the greenhouse to catch up

Something had 3 of the garlic cloves away



Land cress and random chilli are doing ok

Remaining garlic is up, rounded up a few strays outside too.

 

My garlic have sprouted too.



The cloves were planted in late October after the pumpkin had finished.

 

The pear trees (we have two) had not been top pruned for about fives years but pruning meant a lot of valuable material going to waste.

So what to do?


Do some air layering in late March, of course...

Here is one of the trees in early July which eventually became so overladen with fruit that two thick branches snapped off.




Hopefully, if all goes well then I will demonstrate that fruit trees can indeed be kept small through pot constriction and pruning.
