@ARMANDII - perfect sign, ready to print! Had forgotten all about Calvin.... you're not wrong either about how chilling a fox cry is. We have been hearing it for years and still sometimes go to the window to check some poor creature isn't being ripped to pieces.

      :heehee:

I used to fish lakes and rivers in Rutland for years and would fish until Sunset, and beyond, right out in the "sticks" and it always reminded of the cry of a Banshee.

No matter how many times I heard it while the darkness was closing in it always sent a shiver through me, even though I knew what it was.:hate-shocked::heehee:

:) I put out food for hedgehogs but it attracted foxes, I either have the option of shooting them or trapping them as putting a grill over the gate just made them jump/climb the 2 metre fence. ATM I've opted for a trap as the first line of defence, if that fails, it's "bang", goodbye fox.

If you make a feeding station for the hedgehogs the foxes won't be able to get into it. I make mine to stop the local cat population from scoffing the hogs food and to keep the food dry. They are very easy to make with plastic boxes, bricks and tiles.

We need fox's to eat dead wild animals so don't shoot them all, some farmers herds have had some cows/beef animals dieing from Botuism because they have pick up dead carcass of wild animals with the forage harvester and it's gone into the silage for the animals to eat also where the carcass of wild animals have roted away the bacteria is on the grass/soil and aniamls eat that grass and get it that way,
