      Gooooooooood Evening fellow WW'ers :spinning:

I'm chasing my tail a bit time-wise, so apologies for not posting but "Tempus Fugit!" :dunno:

Today is the first day of Advent and for the first time we're experiencing family "Advent Calendar" envy :heehee:
Every year, since birth, our boys have had an Advent Calendar - chocolate, no less :nonofinger: (not the card open-a-window-for-a-Holy-themed-image one that I had as a child)
But, they are grown men now and our budget is less constrained, sooooooo ... I treated Mr "M" to an Advent calendar too. Not the el cheapo chocolate ones that the boys get, but a lovely Lindt chocolate one - the boys getting the usual el cheapo
Arriving home from work today, youngest son (in his 20's I might add!) was:

:waggy: "Do you know what Dad got in his Advent Calendar? A BUNNY!! :yikes: It was this big!" :rrant:

      Oopsie! :lunapic 130165696578242 5: :lunapic 130165696578242 5: :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

He then proceeded to *feel* behind the other windows :strumw8: :
"Do you know what he gets on the 24th?!!!!!! :hate-shocked: A BIG Santa!!! :greenwith:

Oh dear! :shakehead: :heehee: Seems it really is the little things in life which matter most (or, rather, the not quite so little when it comes to chocolates behind an Advent Calendar window ;) :heehee:).

Life is going great guns in my new job but it has meant working extra time while I learn the intricacies of this particular place and the personalities involved. Getting a handle on it all now and I have to say, as demanding as it is (far more so than the other place) the people are waaaay better: more professional, more personable and far more organised and dedicated!

Healing vibes for all in need of them and positive vibes for us all!

      xxMxx

          Aloha everyone,

I'm only a volunteer helper and cook for the 80th party today but have already changed the way they're going to get things organised . I've got a few more changes that they will need to do in order to make things run smoothly. I've really been a busy body and reorganised the layout for the tables, the lighting, some of the arrangements for the cooking (I'll let them know this morning how to get the serving of the food made easier and more efficient - need some more saucepans and serving dishes in order to save people getting in each other's way) and got the Hall's Christmas decorations put up early. :old:

          That's really good news. :yay:

@wiseowl I have bouncability in my mind but not quite so much in the body :heehee:  It's good to hear you've got bouncability. :dbgrtmb:

Keep well and have a great day

          Aloha!

Good Morning all, Hope all the bad backs are on the improve, WOO and Shiney. My Arm and shoulder much better thanks to IBULEVE, expensive but worth the extra cost. Must get Amber out for her sniff around. Have a good day all and stay safe and well. God Bless.

Delighted to hear that @moyra - keep wrapped up and stay warm!

Ozzy enjoyed his early morning walk far more than I did this morning (it was cold!) but I'll take him for another one soon which we'll both hopefully enjoy :heehee:

Beds are made; laundry is on; dog fed; chooks fed and watered; few small piles of leaves bagged up and taking a tea break for health and safety purposes :coffee:

Good luck sorting your card out @Zigs  (Think they take a week by post :dunno: )

                    Smiles and vibes for all

                          Morning all!

Another busy week so not much time to catch up on things! Hope @redstar xmas party was good! @"M" it sounds like you are having a busy and productive weekend catching up on the tasks from the week, I know how you feel! Glad to hear that @moyra is feeling better - Ibuleve sounds just the ticket! Also hope @Zigs got the card sorted! @shiney always sounds like the busiest person on the planet!! Also hope @CanadianLori is doing well, and that @wiseowl still has that bouncability going on! :)

Looks like a cold day here today, bits of rain and so on. May go and investigate the allotment for the first time (it only became mine earlier this week!) and have a bit of a weekend brimble. The kettle is on if anyone fancies a cuppa! :coffee:

                                Aloha everyone,

                                :heehee:

I was certainly the busybody last night :blue thumb:. Got the stage lighting sorted for the band and then I got all my friend's grandchildren (all adults) organised, kicked his wife out of the kitchen and told her to mix with the guests, told his two 'children' (in their late 50's) to leave things to me and the 'kids' (they were getting under my feet) and started issuing orders :old:.

Two of the kids were delegated to run the bar (I haven't the faintest idea how to do it ), had one of them to put all desserts on tables in another room and cut them or portion them ready for later, another one told to set up a separate table in the hall (just outside the kitchen) for the salads, condiments and cutlery. The family, who were originally going to run the food side of the evening had expected to set up everything in the kitchen

I set up one end of the kitchen counter, by the hatch,(it's 16ft long), for the hot foods and one end for the cold meats, bread, butter etc. Delegated one of the kids to handle the serving of the cold food and left me to deal with the hot. On a back counter I got one of the kids to prepare all the cups and saucers and pots etc. ready for tea/coffee and I set up the big urn.

The gas cooker is a very old professional one and is excellent. The oven is 5ft wide and easily took the 60 jacket potatoes :blue thumb:. There were two giant pans of chilli (one meat and one veggie) and the 'family' had originally intended to just stick the pans on the hobs and heat them up. :nonofinger: When I heard about that, early in the afternoon when we were setting up the hall, it was the time that I decided that I would take over running the kitchen! When you have pans each full of 15lb of chilli you're going to end up burning the food at the bottom before any of the heat gets to the top! So I had brought along smaller pans to decant the chilli into and to heat it up in batches. The last job allocated was for one of the kids to separate the plates (they'd brought disposable plastic plates which are quite difficult to separate), unwrap a potato onto each one and cut the potato (a full time job when serving 60+ people). I did the batch heating of the chilli, transferring to the counter (brought heat proof mats) and serving it.

It all went very smoothly (they did an excellent job) and then I told the kids what their next jobs would be - clearing the salad table and putting the desserts out for people to help themselves (never try serving a dozen different desserts and asking the people what they want), cutting the cheeses and laying out the biscuits and making teas/coffees. Then they would have to wash up!

I helped myself to food, had a quick dessert and then went home and left them to it! I'd told my friend not to expect me to stay long as I have very sensitive hearing and the band were too loud, although they were very good.

I'm going to take it easy this morning and then this afternoon I'm captaining the county bridge team in the inter-county league.

I may slow down a bit next week :noidea:

I wish all of you that are 'under the weather' a much better week next week. :grphg:

Don't overdo the Christmas shopping. We've just been invited to friends for Christmas Eve, which fits OK with us as we have decided to no longer help out serving meals on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve to the 'down and outs' in town. It has got too much for Mrs Shiney and we're leaving it to the younger people.

Keep well and have a great day

                                Aloha!
