My budleja is doing pretty well. I only mention it because in September I posted a picture of it in the "looking rough" thread.

There are thin stems in there with white shoots. Is this part of the plant or has something else got in?

This was bought for us as a gift several months ago. It still looks as fresh as the day it was bought.

Some things are still hanging on. With the cold snap coming some of them won't last but others are just getting into their stride

The white heather is just starting to flower and will carry on until May
                P1360981.JPG

The fuchsia aborescens is on its second blooming.
                P1360988.JPG

Dead nettles can also look good
                P1360970.JPG

As the Nigella spreads so much we have dug out about 200sq ft of them but still left some. They seem to be coping with Winter, so far.

The grasses will need cutting back soon
                P1360977.JPG

Acanthus is still blooming - just
                P1360978.JPG

The Hazel trunk looks good all year round - as long as we remove the suckers
                P1360975.JPG

We've cleared a lot of this bed as there were too many dead plants and weeds. The plant on the right (Euphorbia mellifera) was cut right down to the ground a couple of months ago and seems to be loving it. The one on the left was the replacement (from elsewhere in the garden) for the giant Cistus that died

Tradescantia fluminensis Tricolor, planted in the ground two years ago, survived last winter's -6/7c and now it has survived Monday night's -8c!!
                  TRAD.JPG

The Ensete Maurelii which also survived outside last winter I think may have gone this time or may be not! Time will tell but I have a smaller one in the greenhouse to replace it if needed. ENSETE.JPG

What's looking good in December here? Nothing!

At the risk of repeating myself I can't recommend enough collecting the seed for cooking. They give dishes a very mild hint of bitterness. A staple of Indian cooking they also work in tomato sauces, rice dishes and in baked beans.

Is there a chance that it may come back from the roots?

Don't give up on it, strongy! I made the mistake of axeing mine after it flowered (believing the accepted wisdom about it being monocarpic) and the stem and roots were solid as a rock :cry3:They're tougher than they're given credit for.......

I'll have to wait and see, the stems hold a lot of water and I don't know yet if it froze right through. There may be many more frosts to get through yet!!
