The temperature is pretty much static throughout 24 hours at the moment. 10C/50F overnight and still the same as I type.

Another cloudy day with a near gale blowing too, 11C/52F.

This morning is D Day. Dull, drear, dreich, damp, dismal, drab and decidedly depressing.

Apart from that it's a lovely day. :heehee:

I'm shocked! We are already up to 32.5f. Another heat wave. It is sunny however I am experiencing patches of envy due to the weather reports from the Gulf Stream crowd :)

I'd like to also hear about hours of daylight. I'm actually at a lower latitude (43) than England therefore my day stays slightly longer however I tend to forget what other gardening friends have working to their advantage or disadvantage no matter their growing zones.

We are approaching the darkest day for the northern hemisphere. Which is what made me think about this. And my carnation seedlings. Thinking, "now they'll be ready to rally because they will see longer days inching towards us!".

I also think about other's hobbies that require dark and would be interested to know if this boosts their star gazing or other fun night time activities.... no naughty stuff now :nonofinger:

Anyone willing to add this to their post whenever it doesn't consume too much effort? I know we all can't post every day but if you have time, I'd like to read your data:fingers crossed:

@CanadianLori Although the UK is so small, in comparison to Canada or the U.S. we have a big difference in climate. That's why I find it interesting to read about the weather that members are having. I can relate it to the differences we have in what can be grown by all of us. Apart from quite big differences in soil type the weather differences can be considerable.

Whilst I hear about members who find it difficult to do much in their gardens because they are continually getting too wet we are usually having the opposite problem. This year we have had virtual drought conditions at times (not the general view foreigners seem to have of our country) and our hoses and sprinklers are left out all year round - except when we have visitors. We get sufficient annual sunshine for our solar panels to produce almost 3,800 kWh per year.

So, yesterday remained dull and damp (just the high humidity) but we were able to work in the garden quite happily at 50F. We have a similar forecast for the next ten days with one day showing a possibility of rain. It's 48F at the moment, and although it's 8.15 it is quite dull with no hint of the sun breaking through.
