I must admit that I have never read a romance unless you count Stonemouth by Iain Banks.

There's only one great romance in my book (excuse the pun) and that's R.D. Blackmore's Lorna Doone, a classic first published in 1869. It's a book that fills my head with wonderful pictures of the landscape and characters involved.

Thanks @Gail_68 . :) I'm not keen on hard backs, but if I can't find any others I'll give them some serious thought.

Ah yes, the Outlander Simon Fraser. :) I've read the book and seen the episode, the history as far as I can tell is correct. Diana Gabaldon is very thorough. The reason I'm looking is because I'm actually living on ex Lovat land. My house deeds go back to the time when he owned the plot my house is built on.

@Sheal, I used to read hard backs but to hold them comes annoying, I just mentioned them in case you was interested.
Well no wonder you want to search the history as it would get my mind boggling also...I used to do my family tree but haven't done it in ages :)

That's something I would have liked to have done if my Uncle hadn't first. He traced our family back to the 15th century.

@Sheal, He might have done but I've come across families being the same and some have done deeper research than other's, I used to do Genealogy reports for people.
I've gone back to my 10th G/Grandfather early 1500's on my dads side and when there's 13 to 15 children off one lot of parents there's a lot of tracing and on my moms side 7th G/Grandfather 1700's and everything was copied and printed.
I was so addicted I was up all hours doing it :)

@Sheal, I've come across some good Wills left on my Dads side as we're related to lord Feversham because in the 1800s £250,000 sat there with no claim and I've had London family members get in touch with me about that time, so claim is still trying to be found plus I have Lord feversham genealogy tree.
My moms side suffered with a bad disease going back 300yrs and there was a book done on it, which I purchased, quite a read with my family tree matching.

So you have noble blood in your veins. :) It must be exciting to find something like that.

@Sheal, Never bothered me in that way, my main concern was people keep wanting access to my tree which I don't allow and when I gave off reports I only did 2 generations back the most at a time :)...I've got cousins abroad I used to chat with but I don't bother now as i stopped using skype.
