Daisies

Hiya folks.
Basically, the daisies are starting to become a problem, so they need to go. There are a few options I can think of, the best one (to my mind) is to remove them by taking off the
top couple of inches, turf style. Then fill the holes with topsoil and sow grass seed into that. Any thoughts? Will 2” suffice?

Cant understand that, daisies are probably a No1 weed of lawns.

 

I spent a couple of hours taking them out (using a knife to cut the stems), tail end of 2016. They have made a real comeback this year...

So, taking out the top 2”, enough?

 

Should be fine Freddy, don't think they grow back from bits of roots

Thing is, I’d have to apply the weed killer, wait a couple (?) of weeks, re-apply if necessary, wait another couple of weeks, by which time we’re already into June. I’d then probably (?) have to dig it out anyway to put turf in it’s place, though my preference is to fill with topsoil and sow grass seed.

I'm presuming they will have seeded and you will get more later this summer that you cant see now and have to dig them out ?, Might be worth trying the more professional route

Weed killer wouldn’t tackle the seed (do they throw seed?) and as I said, I’d still have to dig out the remnants to get new grass in place. Thanks though for your input
