The Unusual Fruit Garden

Hello fellow growers, new member here so I thought I'd drop in and say hello as I have just started my own fruit garden. After just realising I have a Tayberry tree at work (it's Huge) I decided I had to grow my own as the fruit was delicious. I have a decent back garden but with just ornamental plants / trees and a decent unused area so over the Christmas period I've had a huge clear out, made 8 large raised bed planters and went on a shopping spree trying to find other fruits and berries that (hopefully) should grow in the North East UK.
After discovering the Tayberry at work and discovering how nice they tasted, I wanted to hunt down other fruits I haven't heard of before (generally because they aren't sold in the shops as they can't be commercially cultivated or are still native abroad) so I gathered and ordered the following list:
Tayberry
Serviceberry (snowcloud)
Jostaberry
Funberry
Japanese Wineberry
Honeyberry
Goji Berry
Pink Blueberry
Chilean Guava
3x Blueberry variety
2x Raspberry variety
10x Pineberry (Hawaiian Strawberry)
10x Strawberry
So as you can see, quite the collection of things you wouldn't see down the shops. I am going to be documenting how well each plant grows on my new Youtube channel and I have an introduction video to the plants on my channel (I can't post links yet)

If others out there have grown the above, it would be good to hear how well they have done in your general location to see how they compare to the north east where I am based, thanks for reading.

Not got unusual fruit but I do grow a few veg you can't get in the shops.

 

Hi, thanks for the reply, I was amazed at the amount of fruit bushes that can potentially be grown here but aren't, usually because they can't be cropped without damage. My parents have been growers for over 30 years and have their own allotment and they haven't heard of 3/4 of my list either so I'm hoping I can have a good bountiful crop in a year of 2 and show them what they've missed out on all these years

I read about those and was going to get some but found very few sellers and I don't think they are very abundant from what I read unless they spread over a large area (but am willing to be corrected if you've grown some?) but they did sound nice. There was that and I was also looking at the Che (Maclura tricuspidata) that sounded nice too but I am very quickly running out of space

You've got a fare bit of fruits there mate...you needed our property 10yrs ago, as it was a brew your own garden ....never seen nothing like it as it was being cleared plus seeing my dog slap his chops regular

Strawberry patch, Grapes, Rhubarb which was that big the shooting took some moving, massive patch of Barley but apparently the owner before we liked doing is own brew

 

Not grown Cloudberry, just know them from me Richard Maybey book

 

Theres a scary story regarding English cloudberries...all to do with witches...

To that list the op made, chokeberries and quince could be added, as well as rowanberries.

 

I made wine out of Rowanberries when I lived in Blaenau Ffesteringhog
