I brought two of these Roses for £20 each reduced from £40 a few years back put them in pots, then they out growed them and they went into the boarder of the garden and they just keep losing leafs, then flourishing this kept going on for a while and in the end the stems died...madness there's some plants gone in our garden and now we've finally got the plants which have settled in the garden :hapydancsmil:

@ARMANDII We had two of these roses but in a very deep red at the front of the property on either end when we came here but they seemed wild ones because as soon as they was trimmed they was growing at a fast rate:dunno:...growing over the windows, so they was removed

That one is "White Skyliner" which I bought from a commercial rose grower just outside Chester . It grows in a large oak barrel just outside the Kitchen Door.

The ones we had was planted in to the ground but they was like a wild rose, they was beautiful to look at but the growth seemed to like stemming towards the windows for some reason:scratch:

That is "Masquerade", a climbing rose, which we bought as a celophaned dry root "stick" from a now defunct Supermarket in the 80's for the princely sum of Ten Shillings [50p] and was the very first rose we bought for the garden. It changes flower colour during the year as the flower grows older so you get colour like this

I guess that's why they called it "Masquerade" as a "different" rose is hiding behind the first colour, the second and third. It repeat flowers throughout the year and into the Winter.........not bad for 50p. It still flowers profusely every year with very little feeding from me and is probably my favourite rose because of the memories that flower with it.

Well, like all roses, you sometimes have to "persuade" them to grow in the direction you want:dunno::heehee:

I have two roses either side of my Arbour

One is Rose "Alchemist" and the other is Rose "Compassion". Rose "Compassion" is on the South side of the Arbour and hasn't lived up to expectations regarding vigour and flowering in the last few years. So I've bought Climbing Rose "creme de la creme" to plant on the South side to mingle with Rose "Compassion" and, hopefully, replace it. I won't dig up Rose Compassion as that would mean losing a rose and also having to dig out the area and then replacing the soil with new soil to stop any possible rose sickness. So, I'll plant Rose "creme de la creme" on the South side of the Arbour near the Rose "Compassion" and then train the stems
                              towards the Arbour side.
