@Clare G love your goddess! I think she is whatever you would like her to be. @wiseowl, you have found the most precious of all items to be found.

I find glass. Every single time I stick a trowel in the ground, every pot I fill, every piece of turf I have lifted, there is broken glass. From the front gate to the back fence. Have lived in this house since 1994, and the glass has not reduced at all, it is still always there. Even if Glasgow's Botanic Gardens' glasshouses had been smashed up and buried in the garden we would have stopped digging it up by now. I think it breeds .

The best thing I've found was just such a item; a worked flint that was about 3cm x 1cm. I took it into the local museum which has a lot of archeological artifacts and they said it was a neolithic scraper, a tool for scraping the muscle and stuff off animal skins. Interesting find.

Here's the rest of the clay pipe pieces I've found in the garden over the years, along with bits of china and pottery. Spot the bullet shell bottom right:

... and other rubbish like glass bottle stoppers, big iron nails, more pottery, buckles and a few round flints:

Talking of flints, this is what's come out the ground over the years, I knapped them into a retaining wall and made a bed feature. A bit like a bone yard:

Some of them look like animals if you screw your eyes up:

I found one from WW1 at Newland's Corner with the kettle detector :)

We manage it fairly often. :dbgrtmb:

Not very exciting , but I found a brick wall 2 feet down in one of the flower beds . Must have been an old farm building from before the estate was built.
As above would love to find some of my AWOL secateurs. Why don't they make them with neon pink handles then they stand out ?

Colours don't help much but you could fit them with buzzers and a homing device that can be operated remotely.

There is no date on it Zigs - I reckon it's non-military - it's a very small calibre probably .22.
