No the fish was good, but it was getting pretty busy when I left.
The reason I go there is because its not packed out with people.
    I've always liked desolate places:biggrin:

If you had parked a few more yards back ... you could have enjoyed luncheon at "The Village Tearooms" .. it wasn't packed, all the cyclists would have left before you arrived (there was a naked bike ride in Canterbury the self same day ... I'm not "assuming" anything  ) so you would have been in agreeable isolation :heehee:

Are you suggesting I could have parked in Canterbury and walked to shineyland?
Luncheon, I didn't get there till tea time, remember?

Some very odd people in Canterbury, I can imagine all these cyclists, starkers, with only their cycle clips on. There is no accounting for people, ..but whatever turns you on I guess.

Tonight's delight was a jar meal: Tikka Masala

I couldn't be asked to cook from scratch so delved into my "emergency" rations to come up with something quick and easy. Tasty though

Tonight, I am doing a BOF Cobble (Back Of Fridge Cobble :snorky:)

Putting the shopping away last night, I rediscovered a pack of rather fine free range eggs which had gone a wee bit over their date, so decided that they should be checked and used today if fit. They sank in a pot of water, so are clearly fine, so just about to start cooking:

Spam - small diced (yes, spam - about half a tin)
                    1 red pepper finely choppped
                    1 onion finely chopped
1 potato finely diced and parboiled
                    Mixed herbs
                    Garlic
                    Paprika
                    Butter
                    Oil
                    Salt
                    Black pepper

Drain potatoes, melt butter into pan, and coat - then dust in paprika to taste and set aside; Put a healthy knob of butter into a frying pan, heat, and add half the spam and let it start to fry off; then add half the pepper, onion, potato and garlic and let it fry off some more - whisk three eggs and pour in, seasoning as desired.

Repeat with the other half of the spam etc to make a second, and wallah! Dinner for two.

I love Spam :dbgrtmb: Although Mrs H will not let me have it. Apparently the Spam capital of the world is Hawaii , they love it . According to Bruno Mars.

Homemade Tomato soup served with buttered granary bread. Didn't have specific recipe for soup, just chucked all the ingredients in a pot and hoped for the best.

I'm still in the middle of cooking but taking a few minutes break.

I've made a veggie Tagin (not for today) with onion, garlic, leek, celery, carrots, turnip, courgettes, chick peas, freshly roast and ground cinnamon, cumin and coriander, tin of plum tomatoes, veggie stock, fresh coriander and parsley leaves (I left out the dried apricots as we keep off sugars).

Also bought a large chicken and a pack of chicken wings. Cut the chicken up into skinless breasts (frozen for stir frying), leg and wing portions (for roasting) and using the carcass and pack of wings for the soup.

Used carrots, turnip, onion and celery in the soup and made a big batch - which will keep in fridge and be used each day for most of the week. I made very light dumplings to go with the soup and made them using the fat skimmed off the top of the soup (gives them a good chicken flavour). Sarafi smelled the soup cooking and came for his favourite titbit - chicken wing. It's his all time favourite and tries climbing up the back door when he can smell it.

Chicken is roasting, flavoured with a touch of garlic and herbs and crispy roast potatoes cooking in the same pan. This will be accompanied by swede mash flavoured with French mustard, Brussel sprouts and mushrooms sauted in butter.
