        Old English - Dagwood, like Dagger. Good for making skewers for cooking on.

        You can check it's a true Dogwood when it's in leaf, tear one across and it'll have latex strands :)

                      Those hellebores are lovely - I think they should, however, be given a new name - a combination of ''hell'' and ''bore'' is just not right :huh:
                      I wonder if we could come up with a new name for them :scratch:

                        What beautiful hellebores! I've been looking at Ashwood's website with a view to adding some doubles to my 3 lonely plants, but at £20-35 each :yikes: I think not! Don't think seed would work either...the seedlings around mine are all flowering single. Rats!
                        Posts crossed, Tetters....you're right. Not the most appealing name for a lovely flower, but you try getting a different one past the taxonomists!!

                          Common names are 'Christmas rose' Winter rose' or 'Lenten rose' Tetters, any one would suit I think. :)

                            Those Hellebores are BEEutiful :wub2:-Im a happy Bee I just found a little Christmas Rose - not a double granted but a single thats a lovely Lime green and opaque white shade, didn't have that shade so im hoping for some cross-pollination in any future seedlings-and as an added bonus on sale for the grand total of 30p :hapydancsmil:
