    hallo,
i go past this beautiful mature specimen mimosa tree once a week - it is now in full bloom.

How can i propagate it: wait for its seeds but then what do i do? i'm getting on a bit, dont have many years to wait for it to blossom in my back yard -- how else can i propagate it other than nurturing one from seed? any ideas?

Personally I dont think cuttings is an option.
Grafting is used for good specimens, but seed is the usual propagation method for amateurs.

They grow fast and can flower often from year three or four if given good growing conditions.
Depending on your location grow on in pots for a couple of years before planting in a permanent position as they are not totally hardy, especially when young.

I'd agree with Pete - I have some flowering in my garden after very few years from seed (see my post for 'What is looking good in Feb'). A neighbour had a magnificent acacia dealbata that I tried taking many cuttings from, and failed. And then they cut it down! I'm trying again with one of my better flowering seed raised ones, but...

They aren't very expensive to buy. We have one in a big tub on the patio. They grow fast. We drastically prune it every year.

This was it five years ago in a smaller pot..

This was it in January last year.

@Doghouse Riley I've seen these on odd occasions in the garden centres and yes they do cost a fare bit of money but beautiful to look at :love30: and like yourself I've moved no end out of pots...two years ago I gave big ones away:)
