I quite like mice, had a few as pets in my teenage days (haven't lost my memory quite yet), but I now have a problem with them raiding our Quails food, (If they went for the ferrets food, we wouldn't have a problem.... ferret would eat them) but loathed to kill the blighters, although I will if necessary, ANY suggestions how I can suggest they sod off and annoy others?

No food and no home they soon find somewhere else to live, they don't like wet beds

Do you use a poultry feeder like this?

We have our suspended above the ground out of reach from mice using a length of baler twine.

The nut at the base will require a washer behind it so the plastic base can support self weight of the feeder.

The most effective way ive found for them is glue traps, Its far from humane but gets the job done.

Humane traps in the house, checked and emptied every day. Snap traps in the chicken hut, out of reach of the hens! Oh and 4 cats

Quail tend to be ground feeders so there's no point in suspending there food above their heads. Glue traps can't be used either for obvious reasons. The only way I think is Noisette's idea -humane traps. The draw-back with those is the mice need to be released a minimum of five miles away or they will return.

You could invest in a Jack Russell Vince.

I have a picture in my head of mice hitch hiking along a road heading home .......:snorky:

We get mice cos we live in the sticks but as they do no harm we leave them....

On wee door mouse named Mighty runs along a dwarf wall and gets a feed from a bird feeder. We watch him from the conservatory window.. Hes tiny with whopping great big ears... nice wee thing. :blue thumb:

Put a plastic milk bottle on it's side with food in it where they usually feed.

Sit still next to it, they can't see you if you don't move.

When mouse goes in bottle, up end it and take it at least two miles away :)

Caught loads of them like that :)

I live in a village and get lots of them, i have cctv on my feeders and see them every night, there very clever animals, i set them tasks and watch them solve a way to get to the feeders,

One task i moved the feeder 7 inch away from there nearest access point only way they could get to the feeders was jump and land on the little peg the birds stand on, it took them a while but managed it once they had done it a few times they nailed it every time very clever,

I don't mind them one bit outside they give me hours if pleasure watching and playing games with them, they are free to do as they please :),

Come indoors and your doomed, i don't see many ive blocked as many holes as i can see but i still get a odd one now and then.
