Hi luciusmaximus, im not 100% sure of my final plan but considering making a satellite dish gazebo,

You may/may not know a hobby of mine is satellite tv, at the moment i have this satellite dish in my garden,
    IMG_0312.JPG

In the near future this dish will be coming down and replaced with a mesh dish, as far as satellite dishes go this is one off the best dishes money can buy £3000 for the dish alone new, anyhow ive had it up for sale but no buyer,

It would be a shame to scrap the dish so im considering making a seating area out of it and using the dish as a roof the dish is 7.5ft round and would fit in this area nicely once its cleared,

So im considering doing something like this.

Turned the 2 year old compost heap, still some coarse stuff in it so i'll cover it till it's dry enough to sieve.

        Sown a few seeds:

Tomato - Big Zac, Gigantomo and Manx Marvel

        Cauliflower - Boris

Cabbage - Greyhound ( will be sucessionally growing it throughout the season).

        Chilli - Cayenne and Barak.

I did intend on potting on my Kelsae onions but cooked our roast dinner instead, day off tomorrow so hopefully, if Carol hasn't any other jobs for me?

A lawn would look lovely, but as you have two already you might not want to bother with a third. I wonder if it would look nice if there was a sort of curving gravel path across it, with shrubs, small trees or wildflower meadow a la @Zigs on either side (good sturdy weed prevention under the gravel!). I've attached a few thumbnails, none of which are exactly what I mean, but which have a kind of flavour of it.....

Also, I remember @Clare G posted some photos last summer of the lovely work she had done on her garden, which I think I remember was gravel-based too.

Sunny day here so started work on my planned alpine bed; turned a few bags of grit/gravel into the soil and laid a weed membrane. Slightly underestimated how much gravel I'd need for the surface so a return trip to Wickes will be needed next weekend. At this point the sun disappeared and it started snowing :th scifD36: so I've retreated inside to plan planting instead; tricky part is going to be controling the impulse puchasing, as it's quite a small space and I don't want to overfill it!

Hi Woo its a pity you dug the old pond out, you could have had a bog garden with a lawn round it.

I decided a monarda that had been hanging around pot bound and miserable needed to go in the garden, probably the wrong time of the year but hey-ho it wasn't happy anyway :noidea:
I googled aspect, soil preferences, height and spread etc. I found a nice little home for it:) then after it was in and watered I put the label next to it, only to discover it was a knautia!:thud::rolleyespink::heehee:
Note to self, don't presume you know what a plant is:redface:
