Makes me feel tired just looking at it.

Good afternoon all my friends Mrs Woo thought it was her choice but due to some reverse physiology it was mine , but please not a word :heehee:as the kitchen is my domain and I just love baking as I find it so therapeutic and very enjoyable when family and guests empty their plates and when the Victoria sponges and pastry never last more than a day

We share the catering duties in our house. My wife cooks four days a week. On the other three, we have take-aways and a meal in a restaurant.

My kitchen duties are making tea and cappuccinos, (my wife is a bit frightened of the noise and the steam) and loading and unloading the washing machine (I don't always do that correctly...apparently) .
We've a more streamlined kitchen. It's small and compact. I mean, if you want to open either of the two big drawers under the inset sink, the washing machine door has to be open!
This was the kitchen last year before we had the new boiler and fridge/freezer.

                    I was left with this.

                    P1000773.JPG

And managed to get it to this.

                    P1000962.JPG

We've only a Baumatic oven, plus two halogen hobs that live in drawers when not in use. Also an Actifry, a soupmaker and a lot of other electrical mixing and cooking gadgets, which I've no idea what for.
But I'm very proficient with both the toaster and the microwave.

We'd have loved a bigger kitchen when we had three kids at home, but what we have "will see us out."

I recall car insurance was discussed on here not too long ago. I have to renew the insurance for my mother (it would be easier if she did it herself but hey!). She is 81. She drives a little Peugeot and only drives locally. The best Quote I got through a comparison website is £372. This seems excessive to me. Last year we paid £274. That company declined to renew the policy as she no longer reached their criteria. There was no explanation of that statement. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

                      G.

That reminded me of something I posted on Facebook a year or two ago.

I think it's going to be a long weekend until my wife comes home. I managed to cook tea no problem but then the self cleaning kitchen malfunctioned. As long as I can put up with the mess until she comes home, I'm sure she will know how to fix it. Have a great trip away. Ill see you tomorrow sometime x

                              Thanks for that.

This was our new kitchen in 2007.
To cut down on the cost, I fitted a false ceiling, got a plasterer to skim it, before I fitted the spotlights my wife insisted on having. I had a kitchen company fit the units, but I added some sockets, did the tiling, decorating and laid the laminate floor.
As my wife has MS she can't manage cupboards below the work surface, except for the huge revolving carousel in the corner. Instead we've all big soft close drawers instead. It's worn very well, can't say the same for the appliances, all have had to be replaced, even the extractor fan, the oven and the coffee machine twice!

I insisted that we needed this cabinet, it's next to our new fridge/freezer It was for our Noritaki dinner and tea service. It's not been out of the cabinet since. It's just "a feature." We used to have a breakfast bar along that wall, but my wife didn't want it. I got her to agree to let me have a small one just big enough for my paper and cup of coffee in the morning. But I've never a chance to use it, there's always something put on it. This was taken before I replaced the boxing in.
