I overheard my pal Leroy banging on about some blue grass, he went on to say it was hard to get hold of :dunno:.

Hi @martin-f Well they haven't been for me...we went to the Albrighton garden centre and these had quite a few of only the Elijah blues at £9-50 :)

          Wyevale Garden Centres

Then he took me to several at Bridgnorth and only one had them but smaller at £4-00 each so I had two you could put together, they've been in the shed and they're coming on great, they're now out in the sun :)

Hi @Verdun I did the combing in October and removed the dead flowers...the new ones are coming on great  and thanks for the advice :)

An even better festuca, in my opinion, is Intense Blue Gail.
For something different check out a cute yellow variety called Golden Toupee.

For a conversation piece look up scirpus cirnuas (may have mispelt that) but it is the fibre optic grass......the tips glow as if fibre optic rods. :)

@Verdun They're going to replace the bottle brushes along the each of the drive way where the motor is as there's 3 spaced out and the 4 Carex are going to replace the two by the property on the picture as I have one either side of my red in the middle and the 4 Rosia pampus grasses are going to replace that conifer :)...just giving you a rough idea and I want your opinion if you think they'll look ok:what:

Yep, will look good Gail :)

Just a thought.......Do you think a choisya would look good somewhere there? Evergreen, rounded aromatic foliage, wonderful orange/vanilla scented flowers in spring and summer? Would add a nice mounded touch and contrast I think. Choisya ternata, choisya Sundance (for a splash of yellow) or Choisya Dazzler (more compact)??

To echo the red and spikey theme, how about a red phormium between the two stones? Dazzler is a beauty, not too vigorous and prob the "reddest"colour.

Do you need 4 pampas there? Pampas is very vigorous and usually best planted as one specimen. Maybe others have a different view. Most garden centres will accept returns so cash for something else??

Whatever you decide it will look fine Gail:)

Thanks for your opinion @Verdun :)
I love Vanilla smell..I've got a 3in1 hair freshner in the hallway and it's always vanilla

My hubby saw to red grasses and liked them and they was at the Albrighten also..i have another stone in the same place the other side, so I could have one both sides, so i'll check the names out you've given me.

Well I had two before in lilac and really should have brought them as they was beauties but that conifer is long and once took down the stump will be quite large, so gravel will be tipped over it and levelled out and a pampus will go on each corner, so as they grow they'll blend in together :fingers crossed: :)

@Verdun you can see the size of the conifer :)

                      I understand Gail.
I removed a large conifer (blue juniper) 18 months ago. Not easy I guess! It was maybe 15' high and as much across with a huge trunk and root system. A full day attacking it with saws, picks, crowbar, etc etc. You will be able to get that conifer out....I ended up with a 20' x 20' planting space. Exciting planting opportunity. It is now filled with perennials, grasses and shrubs.

My hubby said the same about getting that out @Verdun...that's why a pampus will go in each square corner of the rooting once out and I've just had him find me some pic's out :roflol:
