@martin-f my hubs has made an inner bubble wrap 'cage' within our greenhouse. All plants, cuttings and seedlings are in there protected also by fleece. Just an idea,as it would be a shame if your seeds got hit by frost:sad::sad:

Thank you Upsydaisy :), some days i just don't have the time to mess around covering/uncovering, i will leave them be and let nature decide their fate,

In a few years time when i retire i will have proper propagators and lights and a heating system in the GH and do it properly.

Yes must admit it is a bit of a faff @martin-f .....just got home now and have had to sort out the greenhouse and ...( probably pointless I know) fleece up our two camellias..as they get hit by early morning sun....not good after freezing nights:sad:

Hi @Upsydaisy I have a camellia in the garden and the buds are getting ready to flower and we've had bad drops of coldness besides a nice sunny day to day and :fingers crossed: it keeps blooming :)

Totally understand where you are coming from there! I've got far less time now than ever before to fit in all the commitments I have.

I planted some borage seeds back in the Autumn. I planted them in the soil in a border and spread the seed in a + shape. The reason I did that is so when they shooted I'd know for certain they were borage and not something I didn't want :heehee: Sure enough, up they popped and when big enough to handle, I transplanted them to where I wanted them. There are plenty who will say that it is not a good idea as they will be lost to slug/snail/winter damage and to wait until Spring. To my mind, nature sows *her* seed in the late summer/Autumn, so why shouldn't I give it a go?
The Borage has been nibbled, no question about it, but they are good strong little plants at the moment and I know they will have put on some strong root growth (despite the hard frosts of late and the snow we have had and no protection from a cloche).

I always plant with the philosophy the seeds/plants have two choices: thrive, or not! I avoid spending a lot on plants for that very reason. I don't mind spending a bit of money on my garden and I don't mind investing time in my garden, but both have their limits and I'm not into competitions with my garden or plants either: it is purely for pleasure and the joy of the successes.

So: you go for it! :blue thumb: Experiment away with your seeds, your greenhouse and investment of time as and when you have it. I've never failed to see shots of your garden and not felt a :wow: factor - I've never forgotten how it looked when you first moved in!! You have a beautiful garden and one to be proud of.

Thanks @Gail_68 ,we've had them for years, ours are in bloom now, plus plenty of buds too :)The problem isn't sunny days and cold nights but dawn sunshine directly on them after freezing nights. Really and truly they are in the wrong place:redface:......but they are too big to move now, so a bit of extra protection from the sun is all we can offer, seems to reduce the 'premature drop ' :)

Its all about time and dedication Upsydaisy,

Ive not gone out and bought the most tender seeds that's out there, ive done my research and planted what will grow in the conditions i am giving them,

When i have more time on my hands i will install a semi professional system including lights heated propagators and a heated GH,

For the time being i will plod along with what i am doing.

Thank you M, i am not seeing it as a Experiment to be honest its a tried and Trusted way of growing seeds, choose the correct ones for the conditions your giving them, most seeds that's in there are hardy annuals and plant direct,

Many thanks for you kind words M :).
