This is true, we have a waterfall, it's not that impressive as it's fed by a bypass from the filter pump in its sump a few feet away. There's a valve with which I can turn it on or off. But I only used a length of hosepipe, so it isn't as strong as I'd have liked. But you can see and hear it.




If anyone is considering having a waterfall and adding fish later, then consideration should be given to having a filter.
An ideal one is one of these which a neighbour has, it's fed from a pump in his small goldfish pond. It can be set partly in the ground and easily concealed. There's a handle for cleaning the filter, a problem if you have a filter attached to the pump in the pool. You're forever pulling it out.
Whichever way you do it, it's best to have the pump slightly off the bottom to keep the intake clear of any muck that will end up on the bottom of the pool if it hasn't got a bottom drain.

He has a very impressive waterfall, because he uses quite a strong pump.

To get a good flow of water you need to have a reasonably sized bore supply hose and have the shortest "head" of water to the waterfall. That is measured from the surface of the water to where the water enters the top of the waterfall. What you don't want to do is to have a small pump or pump/filter combined, that doesn't give you what you want and you're forever having to clean it out.

 

I kept my small pond nice and simple, pond liner from ebay used bought a new pump, a few hours digging the hole the soil that came out was used for a waterfall a few rocks and plants and the job was done,

All in all i bet i didn't spend more than 7 hours on it.

Here was my project @luciusmaximus, i was the same as you had no idea, i just looked at a few designs got a image in my head and started work, nothing is set in stone how it goes together just make it up as you go along.
Small pond advice please

 

I've just completed cutting my Siberian Pea hedge, which I started earlier in the week. Now I feel the need to visit A&E to get its thorns out!

 

Seed Compost: opened a bag and it was bliddy cold! (Thankfully, not frozen) Had to put gloves on to use it to fill up two seed trays
The bags are now tucked away in a quiet corner of the house to warm up a bit. I would hate to be a seed that was sown in *that* cold, cold, soil The filled seed trays have been relocated to the bathroom for the soil in those to warm up before sowing. Want to try Berkheya seed in there.

Put a pot of Lily of the Valley into the grow house - I know they like a cool shady spot, but, I think the forecast cold snap will prove a challenge too far for them.

@martin-f Since coming back from the garden centre...been out and put a fleece blanket mate on both bottle brushes besides the bags on top and covered the stems nearly to the ground...so mate

The thorns do a good job keeping cattle out, but triming it it's a pain in the back side, and that's where a thorn is
