    So, no compost at all? At what stage will you pot?

    Just vermiculite. It is enough to keep seedlings strong and congested roots will separate easily. Probably pot them on in two or three weeks time. Basically as soon as it warms up a bit and I can move tender plants out to the greenhouse to free up space.

      Oh happy days! Used to get 99% germination in the airing cupboard :) It beat all the propagators and fancy techniques hands down!

        I kind of agree, not sure if it was me that was more attentive in those days or just the high temps. but thing used to germinate like cress in the old airing cupboard.
        The big down side was no way of weaning things off the high heat, and no light, so once up, the seeds had to come out immediately.

          Yes but...first thing every morning was an excited dash to the AC to see what had germinated, they were then shuffled to a light window sill, then greenhouse, then outside......Did you know that French houses have windows that open inwards, so no sills? Life's a bitch sometimes :roflol:
