Well.... I could go into detail, but it would probably bore too many people.

If you really want to know,

Did the shopping. I wore my "duvet" as my wife calls my padded car coat.

I subscribe to the Humax message board.

I recently ordered a 500g hard drive so I could copy all my films I've recorded off the TV and YouTube onto it, in case my Humax HDR 2000 crashed. Its 1TB memory is already 40% full.

I was looking for advice on the message board as to which one to purchase, but me being me, chose one checked with the vendors who said it would be OK and ordered it, before I got any responses.
Got a message today from someone on the Humax board (lots on there with a great deal of knowledge) who told me as all the films you record on an HDR are encrypted so I'd have problems.

However, I recorded a bit of the snooker this afternoon downloaded it off the HDR onto a USB stick, plugged it into my lap top and then stuck it into the side of a TV and clicked on Viera Tools and the recording played fine on both. So I haven't wasted my £34 on a new 500GB hard drive.

But I did thank them for the advice.

I unfroze the bird's water, dunno if they got any before it froze again. I'll check again tomorrow.
My wife asked me why I wasn't going to golf! I might go down for lunch, there'll be a few others with naff-all to do at the moment with like minds.

He has ten seconds from the time he walks up to the hole. If it doesn't fall in then he has to play another shot. If it does fall in after 10 seconds he just adds a stroke to his score.
The rules of golf allow for every eventuality.

Not much to do today, just sitting around, walk the boys and do the cooking. Which is easy because it's chips eggs and beans.

My good deed for the day.

I was just about to go out to do some shopping after lunch, when I had a call from a widowed neighbour who said she'd come home after being out visiting all morning to find a stone cold house as her central heating boiler had gone off and "could I come over and look at it."

Dropping my shopping bags I went over to an ice-cold house, she was still wearing her coat and hat.

With "my vast experience of all things mechanical," I had a look at her boiler which is situated in the walk-in cupboard under the stairs and quickly determined the problem.

"I then effected an immediate repair."

                            I pressed the reset button.

The boiler sprang into life and the heating came back on.

Being serious, her boiler vents into the side wall opposite the mirror semi. Between the two houses there is a shared long carport roof. This acts like a bit of a wind tunnel. I guessed that with the strong winds, during a gust, there'd been some back pressure on the flue, enough to trip out the boiler as it thought there was a blockage.

I then gave a grateful neighbour a quick lesson on boiler maintenance.

I showed her where the reset button is situated on the front of the boiler.

Planted up 2 trays of Sweet Pea; 2 trays of Marigold and 1 of Dahlia - all kept in the kitchen - waiting for a spell of warm weather before moving into the greenhouse for some serious planting up of trays.

All the fence posts have been installed in the front garden - 3 still need to be concreted in - I've got the concrete and can't do anything about the weather - how frustrating :gaah:
