We have snow again ! Fortunate enough to miss the beast from the East snow last week , but today its putting down an inch of sleety snow. Temps are up to 7°c later , so it won't be round for long :blue thumb:

Heavy showers first thing this morning , sunny and fairly mild now . Set to get milder during the next few days ! Hurray!!!
This time last week was thawing out the broken-down boiler in severe snowy gales with a windchill of around -12C . Awful day ; think we bore the brunt of 'Beastie' .
Still drifts in the Lincolnshire Wolds today .
Looks like my large Crinodendron has aborted for this year .

i was surprised when a professional gardener who moved up from Lincolnshire to here in Fife said there wasn't a huge amount of difference to our weather up here to you . From the sounds of things we both got a right pounding from "the beast".
We used to come down to Oasby every early March for quite a few years @PaulB3 and your Spring flowers were maybe no more than a fortnight ahead of us. Sorry to hear about your Crinodendron. I managed to keep 1 going in a very sheltered spot for about 10 years. 2010/11 put paid to it:cry3:

Contrary to what most people think , there isn't a great deal of difference between the AVERAGE temperatures around the UK . E.Scotland , NE & E England are very similar in winter ; altitude above sea-level can make an appreciable difference . Suburban SE doesn't really count :)
Western Scotland & W. England and Wales are very much maritime influenced ; can be wet winters and cooler summers , but considerably colder when an easterly (!) blows in ; again paradoxical , but altitude is very influential .

Pleasant afternoon, some sun temp around 7/8. This morning, snow showers. We got off lightly but my parents, approximately 4 miles away, couldn't get where they needed to for heavy snow, blocked roads etc  Anyway it's all melted now:love30:

There's a slow thaw here now. The sun has shone all day and the birds are trying to sing us into Spring.....hopefully. :) In the sun late morning the temperature was 8C/46F. Out of the sun this afternoon back to 4C/39F.
