Not hard to beat, seeing as it is only 9 March   :heehee:

At this time of year, it isn't the temperate rise that is an event; it is the frost which catches people unawares which proves to be the deciding factor when it comes to garden successes.

There is nothing new in warmer temps around now through to April. Garden Centres literally *bank* on it! It is the "Easter" bug: oh look, temps are rising, come buy me! Only for many/plenty to be shattered by a late frost!

A canny gardener is not fooled by a warm spell in March ;) For most of us, late May is the time to ring the bells of rejoicing (although, to be fair, for some of us further South, we might be doing it mid-April ;) :heehee: )

It was all the lurve that was in the air :wub2:

So ... do tell ... are you one of the ... "invited" ... (being a neighbour and all that; technically speaking, of course). I'm talking "you know who" here, of course.

No, don't fret, you can trust me: post away, it will be *our* little secret :mute:  :heehee:

Reminiscent of the slugs and snails returning with the advent of warmer weather , prepare yourselves for the return of the 'summer-gardeners' ; those who show no interest during the winter months .
They flock to the garden centres by the thousand, half the time not having a clue as to what they're buying , investing in trays of often prematurely raised plants to adorn their 'outdoor living space' to quote a modern parlance .
Then.....as 'M' says , frost returns and nobbles the lot !!
Sure enough , off they go again at easter** to replace their losses , much to the delight of the G/C owners .
                    **
                    **
Please note the lower- case 'e' used there ; being an ardent anti-theist , this so-called 'religious festival' does not decree nor deserve the use of upper-case letters .

My long suffering wife always says that I'm a cynic ; can't think where she gets that idea from ?

Oh dearie, dearie me! The pessimism. Where is the optimism?
Last week was freezing. Tomorrow 15 degrees. Yep, some rain but a sunny afternoon. So, folks, embrace it. Enjoy it. I know I will :)

Don't mock :nonofinger:. They're the people that allow the great volume of plants to be produced to keep the prices down for us. :heehee:
