I don't mind doing the manual stuff, it's good exercise and also quite satisfying to look at what I've achieved by myself.

@HarryS I've not seen mine flower yet but just the leaves alone are lovely and when they blow on the back garden they're stunning and they're a bright yellow with green thin sides on the leaf of the grass :)

For beauty, tactility and movement Bowles Golden GRASS is the superior plant. Softer foliage and lovely tall flowers in spring and early summer. All yellow...foliage, stems and flowers. A group provides a delightful hazy effect.

Bowles Golden Sedge is completly different. It has unattractive flowers/seed heads that are not tactile, are rough and can irritate the skin......I remove these emerging stalks for this reason on all my sedges. Removing these helps maintain quality foliage.

So, these are the essential differences between the two :)

Isn't it strange how peoples opinions on plants differ:doh:. I prefer Golden Sedge to Bowles Golden, and I think the seed heads are really attractive and interesting. Bowles Golden is a nice plant but it doesn't have the the character that Golden Sedge has so I find it a rather "static" plant and rather less interesting.:dunno::snorky:

Assuming the showers hold off this afternoon; tidying up from the cold snap so clearing up obviously dead herbaceous material, such as hedychiums that had been in full leaf until then. Spring pruning jobs such as keeping the buddlejas in order, tidying up the honeysuckle. Move some of the pots out of the greenhouse where they were put in the cold spell.

Today I'll be doing a second round of fruit tree pruning, thanks to @shiney's advice, and clearing up all the pruning bits. I'll show hubby what's been done, and no doubt, we will both look at our wasabi plant, with concern. It is fair to say that wasabi does not like -10c!
